The trailer for Shutter Island came out today!!!!! Now that Martin has his Oscar, this looks to be a new step in his wonderful career. Based of a Denis Lehane book, two cops investigate a disappearance of a criminally insane patient from Shutter Island.
While I admit the premise sounds excellent and the look and feel of the trailer is gorgeous, I don’t really think that this will get all of the awards hoopla it had when it was first announced. The cinematography looks gorgeous and the cast is as starry as any other but doesn’t horror/thiller work with the Academy any more? This looks to be a good film but I fear that the second people knew who the director was we automatically lifted it to classic status when it looks like an exquisitely directed popcorn film.
