As the summer movie season winds down and we get ready for fall, here are the grades for the summer’s films.

Harry Potter
Grade: B+
Reason: Fitting end to the franchise, some awesome moments
Green Lantern
Grade: C-
Reason: Tries to do too much with an already cosmic scope
Captain America
Grade: B
Reason: Solid entry to the Marvel franchise and great period fluff, could have used a bit more polish
Bridesmaids
Grade: B
Reason: Solid, if a bit overlong comedy. Scene stealers everywhere.
X-Men: First Class
Grade: A-
Reason: Manages to invigorate lagging franchisce. Michael Fassbender.
Crazy Stupid Love
Grade: A
Reason: A hilarious but heart felt comedy. LOVED that backyard scene.
Friends with Benefits
Grade: B+
Reason: Raunchy and unapologetic. Mila and Justin are wonderful
Transformers
Grade: C
Reason: you get exactly what you paid for, explosions and great 3D.
Super 8
Grade: B-/C+
Reason: a Fun ride till we saw the whole monster. Film falters in the end.
Thor
Grade: B-
Reason: An enjoyable popcorn flick. The comedic moments were the best.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Grade: A-/B+
Reason: The motion capture is outstanding and creatives wisely let the apes drive the film
Midnight in Paris
Grade: B+
Reason: Such a fun film. Supporting characters steal the show.
