Cold Light of Day (Sept 7)
The Scoop: Though it features new Superman Henry Cavil…skip.

Argo, Ben Affleck (Sept. 14)
The Scoop: Be Affleck has been on a roll lately and this film about spies who pretend to mount a movie production to save hostages sounds really interesting.

Killing Them Softly (Sept 21)
The Scoop: It’s Brad Pitt reuniting with his Assassination Of Jesse James…director Andrew Dominick which all but guarantees a good performance. Plus it’s a gangster film so it should be fun.

Looper, Rian Johnson (Sept. 28)
The Scoop: High Concept Alert! “In a futuristic gangland, a killer ( Joseph Gordon-Levitt) works for a mob in the year 2042 and kills people who are sent from the year 2072. He recognizes one victim (Bruce Willis) as himself and hesitates, resulting in the escape of his older self.”

Won’t Back Down (Sept 28)
The Scoop: 2-time Oscar nominee Viola Davis is back in a story about teachers and parents who try and change an underperforming school. Could her Oscar buzz be back with this role?

Frankenweenie, Tim Burton (Oct 5)
The Scoop: Tim Burton returns to the world of stop motion animation with what looks to be a children’s take on Frankenstein. Will we still be suffering from Burton fatigue when this comes out?
Butter (Oct 5)
The Scoop: It’s a comedy about an Iowa butter carving competition with a cavalcade of stars (Jennifer Garner, Hugh Jackman, Ty Burrell) with parallels to the 2008 election.

The Gangster Squad, Ruben Fleischer (Oct. 12)
The Scoop: The cast alone will have me in the theater (Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone) and retro-police dramas have worked in the past.

Paranormal Activity 4 (Oct 19)
The Scoop: You don’t need an explanation; it’ll be the same as the other 3.

Not Fade Away, David Chase (Oct 19)
The Scoop: Soprano’s mastermind David Chase directs this movie about friends in the 60s who try to form a band. Rising star Jack Huston and Tony Soprano himself, James Gandolfini, star.

Alex Cross (Oct 26)
The Scoop: In his riskiest move yet, Tyler Perry takes over a role played by Morgan Freeman of all people in this new Alex Cross movie.
