The Guilt Trip, Anne Fletcher (Nov 2)
The Scoop: It’s a road trip comedy with Seth Rogen and Barbara Streisand. I’d never think Babs would sign up for a Rogen film so this should be interesting.

Red Dawn, Dan Bradley (Nov 2)
The Scoop: A long delayed release, this remake of an 80s classic stars Chris Hemsworth and has seen the villains go from the Chinese to the Koreans. That can’t bode well.

Skyfall, Sam Mendes (Nov 9)
The Scoop: Trying to recover from the dismal mess that was Quantum of Solace, Bond will turn to Sam Mendes, Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes to reinvigorate the franchise.

Anna Karenina, Joe Wright (Nov 9)
The Scoop: Joe Wright is back directing this period drama with Kiera Knightly. That just feels right. The first photos from the film look so lush, the period finery just oozes out of the screen.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, Bill Condon (Nov 16)
The Scoop: It’s the final film in the franchise and while I’ve seen every film, I won’t be too sad to see it go. On the plus side, this film definitely will provide closure for the entire series.

The Silver Linings Playbook, David O’Russell (Nov 21)
The Scoop: It’s a comedy about a mentally unstable former teacher who moves back in with his mom. Bradley Cooper has been choosing interesting roles as of late, and I’m excited to see what O’Russell can do after The Fighter’s success.

Rise of the Guardians (Nov 21)
The Scoop: I’ve seen the concept art for this film about legends like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny who come to defend children’s imagination and it looks really great. Dreamworks has been producing really good films as of late.

Gravity, Alfonso Cuarón (Nov 21)
The Scoop: Sandra Bullock and George Clooney star in what is said to be a movie that will be using technology even James Cameron is amazed at. But will this story about an astronaut stranded in space be lively enough to hold our attention?

Les Miserables, Tom Hooper (Dec 7)
The Scoop: The epic musical comes to big screens with an Oscar winning director and a great cast that can actually sing (how novel). But what will the running time be? The musical is LOOONG.

Hyde Park on Hudson, Roger Michell (Dec 7)
The Scoop: It sounds juicy and look out for Oscar buzz for Bill Murray and Laura Linney. But this IMDB post about it pretty much captures me feelings towards it “This is America’s response to season three of “Downton Abbey.””

The Life of Pi, Ang Lee (Dec 12)
The Scoop: Having a world class auteur direct a children’s book adaptation work for Hugo, can Ang Lee capture the same magic with this more grown up story?

The Hobbit, Peter Jackson (Dec 14)
The Scoop: It’s Jackson retunring to Middle Earth, which means there will be continuity and the movie will be well directed. But do we REALLY need a prequel for this story? We already know how it will end…

Zero Dark Thirty (Dec 19)
The Scoop: It’s Bigelow’s follow up to The Hurt Locker about the top secret mission to kill Osama Bin Laden. Will this movie be just a rehash of that film? Can it bring closure to the Osama story?

One Shot (Dec 21)
The Scoop: Over the past few years, Tom Cruise has come back in big way. Can he continue that roll with what could be a franchise role of Jack Reacher?

This is Forty, Judd Apatow (Dec.21)
The Scoop: The married couple in Knocked Up are the focus here. I’m really intrigued by the supporting cast of Megan Fox, Melissa McCarthy, Albert Brooks and John Lithgow.

The Great Gatsby, Baz Luhrman (Dec 25)
The Scoop: Baz adapting this famous novel is already bait enough, but add to it the incredible cast it becomes a Must See. But the other adaptations aren’t really that exciting…and does he really expect us to see this in 3D?

Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino (Dec 25)
The Scoop: It’s a slavery spaghetti western. Those few words alone should guarantee eyeballs for this new Tarantino project. Having read the script, if Q.T. can meld everything together this movie will be great.
Other Notable Films: The new Bond film Skyfall will be out Nov. 9,
