Have you all been visiting Awards Circuit recently? If you didn’t know that I was back writing for them…well now you do. There’s a lot of awesome stuff going on over there like ACCA 1998, where the readers are voting on their favorites from 1998. I felt like I should do the same here at my blog.

When I thought back to 1998, there wasn’t much in the way of stand out cinema. Sure there are some good movies and great elements in ok films, but as a whole it wasn’t as good of a year as the ones it is sandwiched in between. In the end, my choices for favorite films came down to two films that couldn’t be more opposite. Wild Things is a sudsy, B-movie thriller that manages to be nothing more than that yet in that finds wonderful performances and a great spirit. It was just edged out of the top spot by Best Picture winning Shakespeare in Love, which is phenomenal romantic comedy drama film with an amazing script and an all time performance by Gwyneth Paltrow.

Anyways, here’s my faves of the year!
