The Good, The Bad and the Ugly: 2014 Emmy Nominations

I knew I was on to something when I decided to sleep in rather than get up at the crack of dawn to watch the Emmy nominations. I am just…like…let’s just dig right in to the fiasco that the nominations were.

The Good

-Newcomers such as Lena Headey and Lizzie Caplan on the Drama side.

-Laverne Cox and Uzo Aduba landing guest actress comedy nominations. I’m still not done with the first season of that show but these two were unquestionably the best part of the series.

-I also LOVE that Angela Bassett got nominated from AHS: Coven. I hope she wins.

-Silicon Valley pops up in Best Comedy was a pleasant surprise cause I honestly didn’t think they’d go for it. But it landed a tell tale writing nom so it was all but assured.

The Bad

-Dean Norris not getting a nomination for his work on Breaking Bad is kinda tough to swallow, considering how integral he was.

-Speaking of integral, how was Taylor Kitsch the only Normal Heart boy to miss on a nomination? Like he was one of the top 5 performers in that movie.

-The Tatiana Maslany snub, though expected, still hurts.

-No Brooklyn Nine-Nine in Comedy? ugh.

The Ugly

-The Good Wife missing in Drama Series. This has gotta be one of the biggest Emmy oversights in quite some time. Like I don’t understand how you can ignore a show that had it’s unquestionable best season and was one of the top TV shows on air? Will the cable shade ever end? I am so tired of these people bemoaning the state of broadcast cable then looking a gift horse in the mouth and not voting for the show. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED EMMY VOTERS FOR NOT PUTTING THIS IN DRAMA SERIES. I HOPE YOUR FOOD ON EMMY DAY TASTES LIKE ASHES AND CRUSHED HOPES AND DREAMS! A PLAGUE ON ALL YOUR HOUSES!

-On a different note, FUCK TRUE DETECTIVE FOR COMPETING IN THE WRONG FUCKING CATEGORY. That damn show is a miniseries NOT a drama  and fuck HBO for having it steal a slot that should have gone to any other number of dramas.

-Who is Jeff Daniels sleeping with to keep getting nominated for The Newsroom? Like last season was NOT good and he wasn’t particularly good.

-How on earth did voters watch Game of Thrones and Scandal, vote for several of the cast members, and not put Pedro Pascal and Bellamy Young in their respective Emmy lineups? Did they not give you enough material? Those two actors got more ink this year than half these nominees did and yet they are missing.
