I truly love seeing the friendship that is Hannah and Elijah on Girls, some great and fun scenes with those two… Lena and Andrew work well off each other. Good episode, it shows that not all is sunshine and rainbows as Hannah thought when she decided to go grad school, like she was excited…but towards the end it started to make her realize things aren’t as easy as they seemed.
Hannah is with a realtor looking at places in Iowa and is surprised with how cheap prices are, she sees this huge apartment for $250 a month and then Hannah asks the realtor what she can get for $800 and is super excited when she sees this huge place and takes it. Hannah rides her bike to her first day of her Writer’s Workshop and meets a student named Chandra, who tells her that she doesn’t need to lock her bike because this is Iowa (and no one is going to steal it). Later on we see that Hannah is in a video chat with Marnie and is showing her the new place and how long it took to show her the place compared to how fast it would have been in New York. Hannah wants to know how everything is going in New York and Marnie immediately tells Hannah to stop and to not bring up Adam again…they both proceed to talk about Marnie and the affair she is having with Desi and then the video chat freezes and Hannah closes her laptop. Hannah goes to the bookstore has issues with the cashier because her card isn’t working, she is trying to get reception on her phone at her place it isn’t working…so it’s all going to crap.
Hannah is in bed and can’t fall asleep so she grabs her phone and starts looking through pics of her and Adam. She hears a rattling noise and it turns out it’s bat flying through her place and she starts screaming and runs off outside and she locks herself out, so Hannah gets back inside through her window. She is sleeping in the bathroom and the next morning she is late for class and storms off in her pajamas and bike to her workshop. Her classmates are super impressed by this piece D. August (one of her classmates) is reading to the class and all of them give him a great response. Hannah is up next to read her story, but first gives her peers a heads up that this story may be “triggering” to some people. As she finishes reading story no one is really impressed or has much comments, but they do think that this story is about her and that it reads as the story of a privileged girl and how she is okay with being abused. As they are leaving the workshop D. August invites her to hang out with the rest of her peers and as she is leaving to get her bike it’s missing someone has stolen it.
At some local bar, Hannah is talking to her classmate Logan saying how she felt misunderstood at the workshop…her classmate pretty much tells her that even if one day she gets published that she needs to get over the criticism people will have over her work because she won’t be able to visit everyone’s home and tell them that they are wrong, so she needs to get used to it.
We see Jessa and Shoshanna watching TV when someone is calling them and Shosh thinks it’s weird there are only zeros of the number that is calling…she picks me and it’s Hannah making a collect call (her phone broke), but they don’t accept the call because there is so much going on that Shosh can’t hear Hannah well. Hannah then makes another collect call to her parents and they accept the call and she tells them that everything is going fine, but also tells her mom if it’s okay to have suicidal thoughts when moving into a new place, but then her parents tell her if she can call them back once they finish playing their game of scrabble.
Distraught about how everything is going Hannah heads back to her place and notices that the door is unlocked and calls out to her intruder, but it turns out to be Elijah and tells her he is here because the texts she kept sending him sounded like she was super bummed and wanted to cheer her up. He tells Hannah that he feels like a f’ing loser over in New York and he tells her about this undergrad rager and that they need to go.
Hannah and Elijah arrive to the party and are having a lot of fun…they are dancing and then Elijah takes this guy from the party upstairs. Elijah starts kissing him and the guy tells him he is not gay and then Elijah tells “either am I brah” and then as Elijah is pleasuring him in the bathroom the guy is asking him if this is what happens at all the parties and Elijah goes that at every party he’s been to it’s happened (I was cracking up with this scene, I just love Elijah). Hannah sees this girl crying and comforts her, the girl tells Hannah that her boyfriend is cheating on her and Hannah gives her some advice on what to do…later on Hannah is outside wrestling this girl in a kiddie pool with some blue goo. The next morning Elijah is face down on the floor asleep and Hannah wakes him up so they leave with Hannah telling him that she wishes she could go back to undergrad school and not grad school and Elijah tells her “Iowa” and the continue walking and that’s the end guys.
