y’all…I…

Like…

I don’t…

I can’t even start with anything of substance because what the hell happened at the Oscars tonight? In all of my years watching live television never have I seen anything like this. I just had to jot some thoughts out before I start working on my ScreenRant piece.

Good

-Queen Viola and Mahershala Ali winning acting Oscars. Easily the best in their fields and seeing both of them looking fine as hell (we’ll come back to this soon) getting the Oscars was a win too.

-MOONLIGHT WON BEST PICTURE! More to come about this

-La La Land winning where it should have in my opinion. I was never going to be happy about it winning certain categories but it actually is a very good movie and deserving of a decent amount of Oscars.

Bad

-Hacksaw Ridge winning 2 Oscars

-City of Stars beating the way more deserving

-That tour bus bit was so stupid. But it inspired a thought…*

Ugly

-Regardless of how or why it happened, the Best Picture snafu is going in this section. Listen, I know for most folks it was fun to see La La Land get their Oscar taken away on live TV and given to the actual Best Picture winner Moonlight. I’m petty as hell so i get that emotion. However this moment was uber fucked up for a myriad of reasons. First, it robbed Moonlight of the full moment of a Best Picture win. Moonlight, the $1.5 million dollar indie film about queer black men set in Miami, winning Best Pic over a film with 14 nominations is an upset for the ages and yet we don’t get to feel the total joy that hearing their name at the right time would have brought. I’m still happy but it’s much more muted. Secondly, as I mentioned I’m petty, but I also have a heart and having to see those La La Land folks get three people into their speeches only to have to give up the Oscar? That was super cruel. In the coming days and weeks, I’m sure my joy for Moonlight winning will hit me in full force. For now it’s just a muted moment.

*Now what I thought was going to be the most interesting part of my post was about the tour bus thing. It was dumb as hell but then I thought about what I would do if put in the same situation as those folks. Like what if I was brought into a room and all of a sudden meet Mahershala Ali, Chris Evans, and Trevante Rhodes? Naturally this only led one place. So I want to know, out of all the people in that Oscar room, who is in your celeb meet and “greet”?
