Oscar Predictions: Before Critics Have Their Say…

Free thoughts on the proceeds of the awards season with new Oscar predictions!

-You have likely heard my thoughts on Call Me By Your Name if you’re reading this but I cannot for the life of me understand why Armie Hammer for Supporting Actor is gaining steam when Michael is right there. With the Indie Spirits nominating Hammer in Supporting Male performance, I fear he may play the Mila Kunis to Sthulbarg’s Barbra Hershey, aka hot young things who gets the share of the notice when the parental character is more interesting and then neither get Oscar nominated.

-The more I think about this season, the more I think that the only thing standing in the way of Dunkirk winning it all is whether Rylance gets that Supporting Actor nomination I have him predicted for. The trend over the years is that the movie wins an acting award, screenplay, and picture. I don’t think Rylance will win, but getting an acting nomination will help.

-Best Actress is a blood bath this year, which is great for moviegoers cause there’s so much great actressing going on.
