The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: 2020 Golden Globes Nominations

It’s that time of year friends; time to dissect meaningless awards show nominations! The Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning at their usual annoyingly early time and they certainly are something. Netflix led all studios in both TV and Film with 17 nominees although one of their biggest awards season pushes got shut out. Let’s dive in.
The Good
The following nominations spark joy: Taron Egerton (“Rocketman”) and Ana de Armas (“Knives Out”) in their respective comedy fields, Saoirse Ronan (“Little Women”) and Antonio Banderas (“Pain and Glory”) in drama acting races, Knives Out getting some good love (see sometimes the Comedy category is used for good!), Bong Joon-ho in Director.
The Bad
I am not shocked that The Morning Show managed to land some noms here, it is the Globes after all. That doesn’t mean I have to be happy about it though.
I truly want to know what folks saw in this season of The Crown that they want it counted among the best TV shows. It was not good.
The Ugly
I have not watched When They See Us so I don’t have much of a vested interest in the show outside of rooting for awesome black people, but how in the hell did it not land a single nomination at the Golden Globes? It got a ton of Emmy noms (and a win), is the most nominated show at Critics Choice and…nothing at the Globes? Not even Jharrel Jerome? But somehow Catch-22 managed to land key nominations.
Was Watchmen not eligible? Cause if it was, it is one glaring omission.
