It’s hardly a secret that I look forward to any Ryan Murphy production. Even when they are a mess, there’s something juicy to grab a hold on. When Hollywood was announced, I thought it was interesting, yet I started to have some doubts. How did he plan on telling a story of old Hollywood an still maintain the diversity he has become so well known for? Also, though old Hollywood is an amazing time, do we really want to look to the past? Luckily these photos and a note from his co-EP have sold me back on the show.

This note from Executive Producer / Writer / Director Janet Mock is particularly fascinating:

With the present so fraught and the future uncertain, we turned to the past for direction, uncovering buried history to spin an aspirational tale of what ifs: What if a band of outsiders were given a chance to tell their own story? What if the person with greenlight power was a woman? The screenwriter a black man? What if the heroine was a woman of color? The matinee idol openly gay? And what if they were all invited into the room where the decisions are made, entering fully and unapologetically themselves to leave victorious and vaunted, their place in history cemented. HOLLYWOOD is a love letter to our little industry town where dreamers dwell, stars are born, and magic transcends reality.

I think based on that I am now fully sold. I am fascinated by the idea of a alt-universe Hollywood where the minorities get to be in the spotlight. Execution will be up for debate, but for now this seems like a really cool show. Check out these amazing pics:
