Oscar Predictions Update: The Post Globes and SAG World

It feels so nice to get a respite from big awards announcements. While the critics groups will still continue to weigh in the awards, this might be the first time in weeks I’ve been able to update my Oscar predictions without the fear that some major announcement would render them null and void. But before we get to the predictions, how about some analysis?

Oscar Predictions Update: Super Sunday Changes the Race

I feel like I just went 12 rounds with Mike Tyson and Muhammed Ali in their primes after Sunday’s incredible slate of critics votes. Between 12 and 3 PST, four major groups announced their nominations with more coming late that night and early today. The Globes and SAG are right around the corner so let take stock of how the race has changed since Super Sunday and update those Oscar Predictions.

The Oscar race is certainly in for a jolt now. With the arrival of The Wolf of Wall Street, we could be in for an even more exciting awards season as things begin heating up. There’s not a lot of movement in the predictions but some heavy observations that could be made. Let’s dig in!

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: 2013 National Board of Review Film Awards

The National Board of Review is one of the oldest awards bodies and today they unveiled their nominees for 2013 film awards. Her, the newest Spike Jonze film about a man who falls in love with an operating system, was named the best film of the year, along with picking up Best Director. The nominees were really interesting so let’s dig in!
