Oscar Predictions Update: The Post Globes and SAG World

It feels so nice to get a respite from big awards announcements. While the critics groups will still continue to weigh in the awards, this might be the first time in weeks I’ve been able to update my Oscar predictions without the fear that some major announcement would render them null and void. But before we get to the predictions, how about some analysis?

Oscar Predictions Update: Super Sunday Changes the Race

I feel like I just went 12 rounds with Mike Tyson and Muhammed Ali in their primes after Sunday’s incredible slate of critics votes. Between 12 and 3 PST, four major groups announced their nominations with more coming late that night and early today. The Globes and SAG are right around the corner so let take stock of how the race has changed since Super Sunday and update those Oscar Predictions.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: 2013 National Board of Review Film Awards

The National Board of Review is one of the oldest awards bodies and today they unveiled their nominees for 2013 film awards. Emmy Predictions: Who Will/Should Win

How did the Emmy awards sneak up on me like this? Did you all realize they were this coming Sunday? It’s been very interesting that this year, despite the really exciting nominees, this year’s Emmys don’t seem that exciting. That doesn’t mean that I won’t do a final round of Emmy predictions, so never fear! Anyways, I have faith in about 2 of these picks so take them with a grain of salt.

Best of the Year in Film…So Far

So we’ve reached the halfway point of the year and my goodness has it flown by. It seems like just yesterday that I was headed to Sundance to check out some indie films and now we are right in the middle of the blockbuster season. This has been an incredibly diverse year in movies so far, and yet nothing has particularly jumped out in my mind as being amazing. At this point last year, we’d already gotten The Avengers and Magic Mike. While nothing has quite captured my imagination, there have been some pretty good movies. Let’s take a gander!
