The best musical that no one has talked about bringing to the screen is Caroline, or Change and therefore it is my subject for today’s adaptation. The musical had a short run on Broadway when it opened in 2003, but it made a star out of Anika Noni Rose, relaunched Tonya Pinkins career, and had one of the greatest scores ever written for the theater. Rare is it these days that I have time to curl up with a book and even more rare that I get captivated by a book to this extent. Hero, the novel by Perry Moore seemed like a logical choice to read since it was a different take on superheroes than I’d previously read and it makes for a great entry into the Friday Fantasy Adaptation group.
Look a new series! Inspired by the recent live TV version of The Sound of Music and some good twitter discussion, I decided to take a look at some of the various properties of stage and literature and create the perfect fantasy adaptation of said properties.
