Top Films 10 of 2013, Golden Globe Predictions and other Pieces of the Week
Terence Johnson January 11, 2014 ArticleOut of all the years I’ve been covering film, 2013 certainly ranks near the top of film years that make it hard to craft a top 10. There were so many different permutations of this top 10 list that I had to walk away from the computer for five minutes to regroup. However, I think that the battle was well worth it as the 10 films I selected accurately reflect the films that really spoke to me this year.
This Sunday the first major award show, The Golden Globes, is set to air and will give us our first true look at what the awards season might bare out. With Oscar nomination being announced on Thursday, the Globes might be the first place to convince people to put you down to win the big prize. So who will win at the Globes? I took a look at the nominations and offered some predictions and analysis.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: Indie Spirit Awards Nominations
Terence Johnson November 26, 2013 ArticleThe Independent Spirit awards unveiled their nominees earlier today and like always they were an interesting bunch. After the usual chatter online, I decided to take another gander at the the noms and come up with some more concrete thoughts. Here’s the good, the bad, and the ugly of the Spirit Awards nominations.
So we’ve reached the halfway point of the year and my goodness has it flown by. It seems like just yesterday that I was headed to Sundance to check out some indie films and now we are right in the middle of the blockbuster season. This has been an incredibly diverse year in movies so far, and yet nothing has particularly jumped out in my mind as being amazing. At this point last year, we’d already gotten The Avengers and Magic Mike. While nothing has quite captured my imagination, there have been some pretty good movies. Let’s take a gander!
It’s been an uber busy week at the blog and will continue to be for the coming weeks. So even though I have a bigger post relating to the movies of 2013, I thought I’d give you all a glimpse at my top 10 movies of the first half of the film year!
