We then jump to this huge building where Isaac is pacing about Derek ‘s palatial, if a bit dusty, apartment. (I guess that’s where he’s living) Apparently Derek has asked Peter to try and extract memories from Isaac, and Isaac isn’t too keen on the idea but Derek doesn’t know how to do it. Isaac mentions that he trusts Scott (swoon) and Derek, right before Peter strides in, having heard the entire conversation, who tells them that if they have any issues they can say it to his face. Which Derek does, telling them that they don’t like him and that he should shut up and help them. Which he does, going into Isaac’s memories and realizes that Boyd and Erica are locked in some sort of vault and that they might try and kill them on the next full moon. Also of note in this scene, Peter’s eyes flashed blue.
Scott has called a mini war counsel at school with Derek, Lydia, Allison and Stiles. Derek is NOT here for any of them at the moment and basically tells the gang that he needs hard proof to believe that the marks on their arms are something valuable. We get a fun scene with Scott, Stiles and Danny in the classroom where Stiles drops the condom from his pocket and we learn about risk and reward. It’s nice to see Danny but this scene was boring. More interesting is the following scene where we see the alpha twins talking to Lydia and Danny while Allison figures out that the symbol is from Beacon Hills FIrst National Bank. Now I am happy we get some alpha twin interaction with the people they are supposedly going to seduce but this scene was problematic because it appeared as if they had already met AND we don’t hear the convo. Why rob the audience of that moment Jeff? I don’t want us to just be thrust into the seduction without any basis for how it started.
Deaton has Isaac get in tub filled with ice and tells him that they have to slow his heart rate down to near death so that he’ll be half transformed. The second they dunk him under Isaac bounces up all wolfed out, he is not here for it. But Derek and Scott are too strong and they manage to hold him down till he goes still and rises up. I don’t know what’s gotten into the directors and cinematographers of this show but that shot of Isaac slowly rising out of the tub was so beautiful. Anyways, Deaton begins interrogating Isaac and the lights start flickering and wind blowing, and Isaac is terrified. Daniel Sharman might be making a short list for my supporting actor awards with his performance tonight. Things are going well until Derek decides to burst in and order Isaac to tell them where they are and Isaac realizes they are being held in a bank vault. However, no one seems to be happy with this news and Isaac is confused. Stiles says that Isaac mentioned that he saw Erica and that she was dead. Oh. *aside* Though I completely understand wanting to disorient the audience, the fact that we don’t hear Isaac say these words doesn’t play well. It’s completely out of place and basically cheats the audience out of a smooth reveal. Rather than be a shocking moment, it felt like an editing mistake *end of aside*
