After five years here we are on the last season of Girls, the story of these four women. Where we have seen the high and lows they have experienced in their lives. How will this story end for them and the people involved in their journey. So here we go one last time.
The episode starts off with Hannah (Lena Dunham) getting exciting news. Her story is going to get published by the paper. Everyone in Hannah’s circle reads the story called, “Losing My Best Friend to My Ex-Boyfriend” except for Jessa, which understandable since it is about her. Hannah meets with what she hopes to be her new editor (guest star Chelsea Peretti) and she is trying her best to impress her. Well there is no need for that because Hannah is getting the job (for her look) and her first assignment? Attending a female surf camp in the Hamptons.
Marnie (Allison Williams) and Ray (Alex Karpovsky) are at it again. Marnie is about to cook breakfast and tells Ray that he has to leave. She mentions that her online therapist told her she cannot fall back to old routines and that she is also currently going through a divorce. Ray tells her okay and that he will stay at Shosh’s place, which irks Marnie. Marnie is at Hannah’s and tells her about Ray and him staying at his ex-girlfriend’s place. She tells Hannah if she thinks that isn’t weird and cue for Elijah (Andrew Rannells) to walk in as Hannah says that they both did it.
Ray goes to his apartment and walks into Jessa (Jemima Kirke) who is naked on the couch. Adam (Adam Driver) storms in just wearing black briefs and him and Jessa are acting completely off the rails. Ray tells him that he needs to stay for a while there.
Hannah arrives at the surf camp and meets her instructor Paul-Louis (guest star Riz Ahmed) and we already know this will not bode well. During the surf class Hannah fakes an arm injury to get out of the class. She gets excused and later on Paul-Louis spots her at the bar. He tells her if she gave surf camp a chance she might actually enjoy it. They start partying and dancing. My favorite scene guys: Riz Ahmed rapping! Hannah tells him that she is gonna screw him (me too Hannah me too) and we get such an awkward sex scene between them.
I guess staying with Adam didn’t work out, because Ray is at Shosh’s (Zosia Mamet) and Marnie walks in bringing coffee for Ray. When she sees how Ray and Shosh are connecting and share the same interests (and doesn’t like what she sees). Back at surf camp, Hannah and Paul-Louis wake up and he wants to know what is her plan for today. Hannah says she thinks she will go write and cry, but that is not happening. Paul-Louis wants to show her around and we get this hilarious beach montage.
Marnie and Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) are discussing who gets what in their divorce settlement and can Desi just go away? I just can’t stand these two when they are together. Talk about a toxic relationship. Desi tells her that before he fell for her that is noticed the artist in her. And that’s what does it for Marnie to fall for his bs and they kiss *sigh* she truly has not learned anything.
Hannah tells Paul-Louis that she is thinking of staying for a while here with him, but that all changes when he mentions that his girlfriend will be coming back on Friday. He apologizes to Hannah. At a bonfire everyone is having a good time and Hannah is there will Paul-Louis. Hannah is smiling, but that smile soon fades.
