If I Had an Emmy Ballot: The Best of 2021-2022 TV

It’s that time of year where we get to talking about TV of the previous season. With the Emmy nominations due to be announced next week and my home group Hollywood Critics Association announcing their nominations, I figured it was finally time for me to drop my favorites.

Because of my crazy work and travel schedule, I had to roll back the categories a smidge, so no animated or non-fiction categories this year. I do want to shoutout the amazing Welcome to Earth docuseries starring Will Smith that’s on Disney+. It’s so good.

Now onto my nominations, I initially hated that the Emmys have a sliding scale but that approach is very useful. I initially tried to whittle down the directing and writing nominations and then I remembered these are my nominations, and I can have whatever rules I want! So you’ll see in comedy and drama there are 10 nominees for writing and directing, between 6-8 acting and tech nominations. The big winner this year was the phenomenal second of The Other Two which walked away with 6 wins including Best Comedy. Truly one of the funniest seasons of a show I’ve ever seen.
