Just when you think these awards are gonna go the way you think, here come the Golden Globe nominations to shake things up a bit. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association released the nominees for the 2014 Golden Globes and for the first time in a long time, had a tremendously solid lineup. Let’s dig into the Golden Globe nominations shall wee.
I feel like I just went 12 rounds with Mike Tyson and Muhammed Ali in their primes after Sunday’s incredible slate of critics votes. Between 12 and 3 PST, four major groups announced their nominations with more coming late that night and early today. The Globes and SAG are right around the corner so let take stock of how the race has changed since Super Sunday and update those Oscar Predictions.
The Oscar race is certainly in for a jolt now. With the arrival of The Wolf of Wall Street, we could be in for an even more exciting awards season as things begin heating up. There’s not a lot of movement in the predictions but some heavy observations that could be made. Let’s dig in!
Look a new series! Inspired by the recent live TV version of The Sound of Music and some good twitter discussion, I decided to take a look at some of the various properties of stage and literature and create the perfect fantasy adaptation of said properties. I figured to get you all into this series I’d start out with a property everyone is more than likely very familiar with: the smash hit Broadway musical Wicked.

If every movie at Sundance is as good as Dear White People appears to be, I might have to stop resisting the urge to go to the festival. The film recently caught my eye because of that awesome title and after seeing the trailer I want to see this movie today. Dear White People, from writer/director Justin Simien, follows the stories of four black students at an Ivy League college where a riot breaks out over a popular “African American” themed party thrown by white students. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, the film will explore racial identity in “post-racial” America while weaving a universal story of forging one’s unique path in the world. Check out the trailer!
