The subtitle to this post could be a Game of Thrones book, no? Well the Oscar season often feels as though you are going toe to toe with the Mountain for months on end, and right now is sort of the calm before everything begins to hit. In the next three months, we’ll be inundated with festivals, premieres and reviews so here’s some picks before that happens.
I recently got a tumblr ask about what my favorite gay books/movies were and I’d figured I’d share the results here. I decided to retile the post queer to encompass more groups btw. As I was crafting the answer for this, it struck me just how much of this content I didn’t see/read till I was well into college. I mean with the exception of three of those books and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, I hadn’t experience ANY of this till I turned 18, which is crazy. I’ve made up for much of that time lost as you can see below, even though I have a long way to go. Anyways, here’s some stuff for you all to check out with what’s left of your summer. A fun, thrilling, pop colored concotion of fun jokes, thrilling action, and a rag tag group of heroes that include a talking raccoon and a sentient tree. Marvel has figured out the perfect way to tap into our inner fan and with Guardians of the Galaxy has found a great film to fits its mold and expand the universe.
