2013 has been a surprisingly great year for a variety of things, especially in music. So much great music to listen to from a variety of genres has graced our ears and enabled the year to go by quickly. Anyways, it was really difficult to make this list of the top 10 albums of 2013 because of the wealth of music I had to choose from. But preservere I must, so here’s my list of the top 10 albums of 2013!
This is everything I needed and didn’t know I wanted. So many people have been saying that Beyonce’s “Rocket” felt like a cover of D’Angelo’s song “How Does It Feel” and now some wonderful person named JayBeatz has made a mashup of the two tracks and it’s glorious. I don’t really have much more to
Lady Gaga has been an interesting artist to watch these past few years. Often hindering herself with her antics, she has mega watt talent that’s evident even with the foolishness. It’s been a few years since her last album and she has decided to grace us with ARTPOP, the next step in her evolution as an artist. So is the album any good? Peep the analysis after the jump.
I’m a bit late on posting this but in my defense it’s because I cannot stop listening to this track Dark Horse that Katy Perry put out. Seriously, this song is pretty great and the beat is insane. I haven’t the slightest clue why Juicy J is working with all these white people now but if he keeps turning tracks out, I would even be mad. Check out the track!
Given that this song apparently leaked a few days ago, Lady Gaga did the best thing she could do when this happens, released the official version. Applause is the first official single off of ARTPOP and it’s an upbeat, seemingly club ready song. Gaga singles usually take a while to grow on me and at this point I’m not really a fan of the new song, but it seems like it’ll be a fun thing to dance to at the club. Check it out!
In the pantheon of recording artists I’ve listened to in my 24+ years of life, The Civil Wars are one of the few artists that have never made a bad album. I mean not since Destiny’s Child has a group so delivered on their talent like this duo has. Add that to the fact I am convinced that this duo are just the reincarnated souls of slaves cause their songs just feel like modern day Negro spirituals and you have one excited listener. Their newly released album, aptly titled The Civil Wars is another in the line of great LPs that they have released.
