Album Review: ARTPOP

Lady Gaga has been an interesting artist to watch these past few years. Often hindering herself with her antics, she has mega watt talent that’s evident even with the foolishness. It’s been a few years since her last album and she has decided to grace us with ARTPOP, the next step in her evolution as an artist. So is the album any good? Peep the analysis after the jump.

Album Review: The Civil Wars by The Civil Wars

In the pantheon of recording artists I’ve listened to in my 24+ years of life, The Civil Wars are one of the few artists that have never made a bad album. I mean not since Destiny’s Child has a group so delivered on their talent like this duo has. Add that to the fact I am convinced that this duo are just the reincarnated souls of slaves cause their songs just feel like modern day Negro spirituals and you have one excited listener. Their newly released album, aptly titled The Civil Wars is another in the line of great LPs that they have released.

Album Review: Magna Carta Holy Grail by Jay-Z

Jay-Z has been one of the most enduring MCs in the game managing to subtly shift his lyrics and style to any and every era. That adaptability has lead him to release this latest album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, in an innovative method via Samsung that has already netted him 1 million in sales. It might come as a shock to people but this is the first Jay-Z album I’ve ever listened to all the way through, so it definitely deserves a review.

Album Review: Talk a Good Game by Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland, one third of Destiny’s Child and the queen of the sexy feature, has been known more for her appearances on rap songs lately than her solo career. But she’s been working on new material all the while and after releasing several singles, this past week we finally got Talk a Good Game, her first album since 2011’s Here I Am. It took me a bit to get around to this album with all Yeezus seemingly sucking up all the airspace, but after listening to Talk a Good Game, I definitely think it deserves a breakdown.

Album Review: Yeezus by Kanye West

It’s been a minute since Kanye has graced us with a solo project, seeming more inclined to do compilation projects, running into poles, and impregnating Kardashians. But he’s managed to find some time in his uber busy life to record a new album titled Yeezus. The album comes out on June 18th but thanks to the gods of foolishness and the internet, the album was made available online and after taking a listen, I thought I’d share my thoughts on the album.

Album Review: The MF Life (Deluxe Edition) by Melanie Fiona

Whew Lawd, this album. PURE. FIRE. From track 1-18, Melanie Fiona (and her team of producers) have crafted an energetic and soulful R&B album that plays to all of her strengths. I came across this album on iTunes and realized from listening to 3 samples that this was going to be an excellent album. Much
