List time! You know I love a good response to a published list and Powell’s the wonderful bookstore in Portland and creator of the Indiespensible book subscription service, created a list of the 25 books that you need to read before you die. It’s a great list, of which I’ve only read like three books.
One of the casualties of me having an insane schedule the last year was the fact that I had no time to read any books. This is something I plan on rectifying this year, and for my first Wayback Wednesday I thought I’d get you all along on the ride. I am currently reading A Brief History of Seven Killings and finding it a fascinating sprawling character piece. But what of the books I finished? Well here’s a selection of books you should check out.
I recently got a tumblr ask about what my favorite gay books/movies were and I’d figured I’d share the results here. I decided to retile the post queer to encompass more groups btw. As I was crafting the answer for this, it struck me just how much of this content I didn’t see/read till I was well into college. I mean with the exception of three of those books and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, I hadn’t experience ANY of this till I turned 18, which is crazy. I’ve made up for much of that time lost as you can see below, even though I have a long way to go. Anyways, here’s some stuff for you all to check out with what’s left of your summer. Anything I should add to the list?
Rare is it these days that I have time to curl up with a book and even more rare that I get captivated by a book to this extent. Hero, the novel by Perry Moore seemed like a logical choice to read since it was a different take on superheroes than I’d previously read and it makes for a great entry into the Friday Fantasy Adaptation group.
