GA Tech Society of Black Engineers (NSBE): The earthquake in Haiti is a call to action

Do what you can to help those in need. As engineers at Georgia Tech, we learn about building better and stronger to advance society. But nothing can prepare even the most advanced society from Mother Nature. To see what happened in Haiti, words can’t even express. The pictures and videos were devastating.  NSBE is charged with being a beacon in the community, not just in the country but around the world, and it was clear to our chapter that we had to do something.
After fielding suggestions from the board about what to do, we decided to use our Hawks mixer as a fundraiser for the Haiti victims. We were able to raise money not only from Tech students but from surrounding NSBE chapters. Though we know that we alone can’t rebuild Haiti, through collaborations such as Your Face Here this we can contribute and hopefully make a positive impact in the community in Haiti.
