Oscars Best and Worst Dressed
Terence Johnson March 3, 2014 ArticleBest and Worst Dressed: An Oscar Conversation
Elsie: Let’s start off with the first person on my list- Lupita Nyong’o!
Terence: So we just gon jump in then? haha I really liked Lupita’s look and I’m always happy when the winners look great…the only thing I wasn’t a big fan of was the headband
Elsie: She looked great. I liked the headband because she was a princess.
Terence: I’m just not a fan of headbands on people over 12 lol but the color looked great on her. Only a few ppl wore color this year, which is a strange trend.
Elsie: Yes, very true. This red carpet didn’t have many of the bold colors that I love. There was the classic black, navy, and of course sheer/nude sparkly dresses.
Terence: that’s true. Of the nude/sparkly colors, which was your favorite? I LOVED the gold dresses of Cate Blanchett‘s and Kristen Chenoweth.

Elsie: My absolute favorite has got to be Cate Blanchett. Perfection. My second would be Kristen Bell and then Portia de Rossi. Jada Pinkett Smith gets better with age.
Terence: yeah I thought Jada looked great. I had no idea she would even be at the Oscars this year.
Elsie: I know. I didn’t even know Will Smith was presenting.

Terence: Speaking of people I didn’t think would be there, what do we think of Lady Gaga‘s look? I wasn’t a fan of how severe she looked
Elsie: It wasn’t that bad. I think she looked good. This dress is toned down compared to what she usually wears. I just wasn’t a fan of the platinum blonde hair.
Terence: Yeah, I’m normally not a fan of that super slicked back, pulling your face back type hair
which is whi tho I thought naomi watts dress was wonderful, I wasn’t digging her look either
Elsie: I agree. Speaking of hair, Jennifer Lawrence looked great but I don’t understand why her hairstylist was trying to make her look like she was 40 years old. She needs to look her age.
Terence: LOLL I was wondering when we were gonna get to the shading JLaw portion of this chat. I can’t stand that short hair on her and idk if she knows what to do with it either. She needs to take some pointers from Shailene Woodley or Anne Hathaway who looked great last night.
Elsie: Yes I agree. Nothing wrong with short but it has to be done right
Can we skip over to the men for a moment? Ryan Seacrest.
Terence: You’re just gonna throw my order all out of whack but yes we can talk about Ryan. He NEVER looks bad and I’d kill for his wardrobe…like that suit is tailored to perfection and that’s what I want to be wearing when I win my Oscar haha
Elsie: Yes, I just looked at his picture again and I am still in awe. Best dressed gentleman of the night. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was adorable as usual and Jared Leto was so pretty.
Terence: JGL’s suit made me green with envy. I love when guys can find new interesting patterns or material to spruce up the traditional penguin suit. Jared leto’s bow tie I hated, the rest of the look I loved…can we mention his brother and his insane eyebrow game? those brows were arched for the gods last night lol
Elsie: Yes. I want to do some research and find out why he wants them so pointy. He stands out. Will Smith looked like he wanted to look nice but he didn’t care that much.

Terence: LOL I’m sure he doesn’t care unless he’s nominated. Speaking of folks who didn’t care, I can’t tell you how mad I am Pharrell wore shorts.
Elsie: Yes me too! I know he knows better because I’ve seen him wear suits before. Good think he didn’t wear his infamous hat on the red carpet too.
Terence: With the hat, I’d have just quit life. Michael B. Jordan, who has been like my style icon this entire awards season let me down yesterday with his look.
Elsie: I wasn’t a fan of the stars but it wasn’t that bad.
Terence: the stars, that weird shawl collar, the shoes…no me gusta
Elsie: Chris Hemsworth looked great and his tux was not too bright.
Terence: Thor and his wife looked a mess IMO lol and normally I love burgundy suits but something about his look was off. They needed to take notes from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (my loves!) or Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum on how to show up and show out.
Elsie: I disagree. It was perfect. Though his wife could have chosen a different dress. Channing and Jenna always look good and Brangelina look beautiful as well. It was nice to see her wearing something other then black.
Terence: I have to give C-Tates and Jenna some shine cause people always shade them (like calling C-Tates Charming Potato) but they were my fave couple of the night…
