Looking Recap Episode 2.02 “Looking for Results”

Looking is a show that finds interesting ways to tread familiar ground…but even it is not immune to a less than stellar episode, which is what happened any time the show moved it’s focus away from Patrick. “Looking for Results” felt like a season premiere, but in an episode that came after the season premiere it felt a bit off, though interesting stuff happened.
Dom (Murray Bartlett)
Dom had the most boring storyline in this episode and were it not for a particularly interesting moment where Lynn asked him if he fucked anyone at the house, he really didn’t have much to do. I wish the episode had spent a few more beats in that moment with Lynn and Dom, cause I would have loved seeing him having to tell Lynn that he did in fact suck someone off but alas that wasn’t going to happen.
Augustin (Frankie J. Alvarez)
Now you want to talk about someone who is being set up for an interesting storyline, Augustin is it. In fact Augustin might be my most interesting character for the season *dodges ligthning strikes* Though I am not here for him shading Doris AT ALL, I did like that we got to see that vintage Augustin bite. Also, him going searching for Eddie was sweet…which is prob why they followed it up with him meeting and taking drugs with a prostitute who knew Frank. Chile that scene was rough but Alvarez did some really good acting. I was not expecting him to be basically drugged out of his mind, laying on the sidewalk, only to be found by Richie! Richie then brings him back to Patrick’s so thanks Augustin for getting those two in the same place. I also wonder what he said to Richie while drunk, was it sexual or maybe hitting at Patrick’s lingering feelings.
Patrick (Jonathan Groff)
Speaking of Patrick….yall, we gotta get a prayer circle going for him cause he is clearly a lost sheep. The episode started out with Patrick and Kevin in a bed (finally) at some random hotel. Patrick tells him a story about having a crush on his dad’s friend Tony so he started dancing and Kevin said he learned a routine to a Take That song. I howled. Anyways they leave the love nest and head to work where they talk about gay games and Patrick suggests they make a gay game app for iphone. It would have been cute if they hadn’t been on public transportation, trying to channel Richie and Patrick teas. So they get to work and have a brief convo where Kevin says that they have to keep it a secret and he knows Patrick won’t tell anyone.
Patrick then has to confess he told his friends and that they wouldn’t say anything…which they immediately do in the next scene. There’s also a hilarious bed bug subplot that starts from this moment on but whatever.
What was interesting is to watch Kevin and Patrick deal with this relationship. Kevin wanted to be paranoid as shit about everyone finding out him and Patrick are fucking WHICH WOULDN’T BE AN ISSUE IF YOU TOLD YOUR BOYFRIEND AND WEREN’T CHEATING ON HIM YOU BIG EARED DOOFUS. Meanwhile Patrick has been fully indoctrinated with side bitch logic. Him and Kamehameha Kakarot Krash Bandicoot KidsseatfreeonWednesdays Karruche should write a book cause he has lost his mind. Patrick legit said “He’s the one having an affair, not me”. ok…but like…you’re ass (literally) is in the middle of someone else’s relationship so maybe you should look in the mirror and address some things. I couldn’t be Patrick’s friend, my friend know better than to act this way lol
I did enjoy, or as much as you can enjoy someone thinking they got AIDS, Patrick’s freakout and it provided a comic highlight of the episode when he talked about the unprotected sex he had with Kevin (who is apparently uncut…which we didn’t need to know).
Anyways the highlight of the episode was when Richie and Patrick were drinking tea and it was so awkward and heartbreaking. LOVED how Patrick asked him if was seeing anyone then immediately said delete. Also loved how real the tension felt in that room when Patrick desperately asked to get lunch and was rejected twice. YAS RICHIE YOU BETTER MAKE HIS ASS WORK TO GET BACK IN YOUR GOOD GRACES! The entire time during this scene I was just like
So rough. But good.
Oh and Kevin says Patrick isn’t alone in their ridiculous affair and dances for him in the office.
Odds and Ends
-Looking’s willingness to let Richie and Augustin speak in Spanish is very refreshing, but can I please get some subtitles? That initial conversation in the park in season 1 was great but like….I want to know what they’re saying.
-Doris is gonna be getting some Black dick this season! You go Glen Coco.
-That girl saying Augustin works in a Chitpotle by the mall had me cracking up. I hope that’s really true.

The guy Agustín met wasn’t a prostitute, it’s the guy from the pilot that had sex with him and Frank.
