This week on Girls, we go back to Japan with Shosh and while things may sound perfect there is more than meets the eye. Hannah and Loreen go to all women retreat where for Hannah it’s taking some time away from Fran and for her mom it is deciding what she will do regarding her marriage with Tad, while Adam and Jessa continue their blossoming relationship they meet up with her sister who is in town and has something to ask her.

It’s road trip time with Hannah (Lena Dunham) and Loreen (Becky Ann Baker) as she has joined her mom for all female retreat called “Spring Queening” because Loreen needs some clarity on what to do with her marriage…and Hannah can’t understand why Loreen would want to stay with Tad knowing that he’s gay and Loreen responds that the sex is now even better because there is less pressure, which grosses Hannah out.

Back in Tokyo with Shosh (Zosia Mamet) now speaking Japanese and working at a cat cafe, her new boss goes over to her telling her she has a visitor and it’s her ex-boss, Abigail (Aidy Bryant). She apologizes to Shosh for having fired her from her job, but she tells Abigail that there is no need for an apology…because she loves it here and that she is in a series of romantic exploration with Yoshi. Shosh tells Abigail that she is gonna show her around and make her love Japan.

Hannah and Loreen finally arrive to the retreat and the first thing that happens is that a worker tells Hannah she can’t use her phone…because there are no phones allowed at Dhanimahila…and she has connect with herself not with technology….Hannah is upset and clearly doesn’t want to be at this place. In their room Loreen asks Hannah if she wants her to call Fran and Hannah tells her no that she is relieved to be away from him. Loreen tells her that Tad and her really did a number on her because she is incapable of loving someone who is kind to her…saying how they weren’t good examples for Hannah. She tells Loreen that they didn’t mess her up and they go to sleep.

Adam (Adam Driver) and Jessa (Jemima Kirke) are having a glorious time doing the horizontal mambo and they are doing kinda role playing with Jessa saying he needs to pull out before she gets pregnant, because she doesn’t want to get pregnant…it both turns them on and Jessa tells him he’s great and they kiss…she mentions to him that her sister Minerva is in town and is going to dinner with her…Adam tells Jessa that he would like to join them so he can meet her sister.

Back at Spring Queening, Hannah and Loreen are doing some of the activities and Hannah who has steered away and FaceTime’s her dad Tad (Peter Scolari) telling him that she misses him…he wants to know if her mom is leaning toward them staying together, but Hannah quickly tells him goodbye because she hears someone coming.

Shosh is showing Abigail around saying how she sometimes thinks that she created this country in her mind and then both head off to have a fish pedicure. Back at the retreat Hannah is on her phone and the same employee wants to take her phone away, but this yoga instructor named Holly (Lena Hall, from Hedwig and the Angry Itch) comes over to them and tells the retreat employee to back off. Hannah tells Holly how she hates being outside and Holly kinda flirts with her and then later on with see Hannah dancing with her mom and all the other women.

Jessa and Adam are off to meet Minerva and she tells him a bit about her sister saying how both of them have slept with the same men and that if he wants to screw her sister that she won’t care because she is used to it…leaving Adam with a WTF look on his face. They meet with Minerva and she immediately hugs Adam, but you can see how uncomfortable he is with it.

At dinner Hannah and Loreen are talking with the divorcees and Hannah gets annoyed with their small talk and leaves…she runs into Holly and tells Hannah she looks tense and what she needs is going to the sauna to unwind…they go and Holly gets Hannah in this yoga position and Hannah falls on top of her and they start kissing. We go back to Loreen and all the divorcees are telling her their horror stories of what happened after they got divorced, which makes Loreen think…then she tells everyone that her husband is gay…and they say how that is an non-issue for them and how they wish they would have a gay husband. Hannah is going down on Holly and she gets really uncomfortable saying it’s hot, but Holly tells her not yet, because she is close…but that’s it for Hannah and Holly finishes herself and then starts sobbing…just leaving Hannah with a disoriented look.

Adam and Jessa are having dinner with Minerva and Jessa tells her how is she going back to school because she wants to become a therapist and has something to ask her…she needs money because she doesn’t qualify for financial aid. Minerva can’t believe it and tells her that she never sticks to anything so why would she give her money. Adam low-key whispers to Minerva saying she doesn’t know her sister at all and that he will pay for Jessa’s schooling since he made a ton of it from doing some commercial…which surprises Jessa and gets super happy about it.

Shosh is having dinner with Abigail and Yoshi, as he mentions to Shosh how fast she became very knowledgeable about the culture in Tokyo and how they will lose their virginities to each other as he leaves. Shosh all of a sudden gets super emotional and Abigail asks her what is wrong…she says nothing that everything is perfect and then starts crying saying how she is lonely and homesick and needs to go home.

Hannah and Loreen are talking and mentions to Hannah that she has decided to stay with Tad and not get a divorce saying how he is a nice guy and might as well stay…that these qualities that Tad has count for a lot and maybe if she had known 20 years ago…maybe things could have been different. Hannah then tells her Loreen that maybe they did mess her up…as we cut to Shosh walking the streets of Tokyo alone to a cover of David Bowie’s “Life on Mars” and the scene fades to black.
