Here’s the 2013 Blacklist

The Blacklist for those unaware is is a list of the most liked unproduced screenplays circulating around Hollywood, as voted on by over 250 film executives. Today the list for 2013 has been released and thanks to Collider, you can now read the loglines for the finalists. As someone who hopes to be in the industry, it’s interesting to peep what kind of films execs are liking. My favorites based on the loglines are Shovel Buddies, Pox Americana, Ink and Bone and 1969: A Space Oddessy or How Kubrick Learned to Stop Worrying and Land on the Moon.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: Critics Choice Awards Nominations

Boy the BFCA is something else. The nominations for the Critics Choice Awards were announced today and they were…interesting to say the least. 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle led the field with 13 nominations a piece. I have some thoughts about these noms…

Oscar Predictions Update: The Post Globes and SAG World

It feels so nice to get a respite from big awards announcements. Film School Files: Nefarious Projections

Film School Files: For my Editing class this semester we were each tasked with editing film shot by a classmate. I was partnered with Christine and this is the final cut of my edit of her movie Nefarious Projections. As a horror fan, I was excited about this project and I really wanted to make it as creepy as possible.. It’s an interesting process editing someone else’s film cause you see the story differently. I cut out entire scenes from her script to make this cut, but as the editor I wanted to find the essence of her film. The sound editing is also a bit off but I’m still learning. Anyways I hope you enjoy!

Film Review: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Truthfully, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug didn’t have much to do to be a good movie given our reception to the last one. However, the success of the second film is based not on low expectations, but on the sheer force of good movie making. By ratcheting up the tension and delivering some of the best set pieces of the year, Pater Jackson and company manage to craft a fairly engaging tale.
