If I Had an Emmy Ballot…The Best of 2012-2013 TV

Television has certainly been in a golden age, with every matter of show and network stepping up their game to present complicated characters, interesting situations and dazzling visual work. The Emmy nominations are set to be announced tomorrow and many of the same shows that we know and love will show up. But instead of doing predictions, I thought it would be more fun to envision what I would vote for if I had an Emmy ballot. This is based on shows/tv movies/miniseries that ran from June 1,2012-May 31st 2013 to comply with the Emmy calendar. Check out my sample ballot!

Demon Wolfcast Episode 7: “Currents”

Micah and I thought we had toughened up after the Red Wedding but Jeff Davis is a master manipulator and last night’s episode of Teen Wolf titled “Currents” has left the Demon Wolfcast in an extremely somber mood. We breakdown the episode including that devastating death, Mama McCall’s awesomeness and wonder about whether the narrative is serving the characters well. Also, I share a few of the highlights from Teen Wolf Revelations and wonder about what the Comic-Con might have in store for us. Dig in!

Top 10 Things I Would Catfish People For

Have you all been watching the tomfoolery that is MTV’s Catfish? Nothing can make you weaker than a good episode of this show and I LIVE for when the show goes off the rails like when Anthony was about to beat Frammel down two weeks ago. Anyways, we often watch these shows and wonder why people get catfished or why someone would catfish someone else. So I thought it would be  good to analyze my biases and figure out what possible benefits I’d want from a Catfish-type relationship.

Teen Wolf Recap: 3.07 “Currents”

*stares blankly at the carnage* I don’t…I can’t even begin to think of how to address this episode of Teen Wolf. Like I thought I was done with soul crushing deaths on TV but nope Jeff Davis said he could bring me back to that horrible place. Let’s just dive into the recap.

Pacific Rim and Crystal Fairy: Why You Don’t Owe Films Your Support

Twitter and Facebook have been places of intense discussion for the past several days, most of it revolving around the George Zimmerman verdict and Cory Monteith’s death. But there’s been just as much discussion regarding Pacific Rim‘s box office and whether the third place finish signals death of new material. Also on the Twitter is convos surrounding Crystal Fairy, a movie I loathed out of Sundance. I initially hadn’t planned on commenting on Pacific Rim or Crystal Fairy (cause I’d love to forget about the latter) but after seeing two people I respect and am friendly with advocate for these films, I had to share my opinion.

Op-Ed: Andrew Garfield and the Possibility of a Major Superhero Being Gay

Fanboys seem to be having an interesting week. Pacific Rim has arrived to wildly divisive response, Comic-Con fever is about to hit and we’re in the thick of the summer movie season. But the biggest news of the week was derived from an interview with current Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield in which he tells Entertainment Weekly that he talked with his director about the possibility of MJ being played by Fruitvale Station actor Michael B. Jordan. Not only would Spidey then get a male love interest but have an interracial relationship, which is rare on screen in any movie, let alone a superhero one.
