Book Review: The Maze Runner Trilogy

the-maze-runnerRare is it that I engaged with much of the young adult fiction that seems to be popular unless the novels are being turned into movies. It’s how I ended up reading the Twilight saga and The Hunger Games trilogy and how I came across James Dashner’s Maze Runner Trilogy. Thanks to Teen Wolf’s Dylan O’Brien being cast as the lead character I figured I #minuswell read the first book to at least familiarize myself with the tale. After making it through over 180 chapters, countless silent freak outs and some questions, I made it through these books and am here to share my thoughts.

The End is Nigh: How SMASH’s version of a redemption story is the last straw

MientusOh Smash, you make it so hard to continually tune in every week. I have resolved to go. This season has traded in the batshit crazy bravado of the first season for more streamlined stories that lack ambition. They’ve sort of buried the craziness in a shallow grave, but it could only remain there so long. On last night’s SMASH titled “Phenomenon” the show took a dip back into that pot of foolishness and created a storyline that while somewhat dramatically compelling, just stank of tired clichés, bad writing, and the ultimate demise of the show.

Tuesday Top 10: Top 10 Musicals That Haven’t Been Made Into Movies Yet

wicked-defy8On the heels of the recent news that Guys and Dolls was getting a big screen remake with C-Tates and JGL and the Tony nominations, I decided to give this week’s top 10 a Broadway flavor. Movie musicals come and go in terms of public consciousness but given the success over the past few years, we might be entering a new age where musicals are being made regularly again. So I now present to you the top 10 Broadway musicals that haven’t made it to screen yet.

Fan Fiction Friday: ‘Tremble’ and ‘Mochas, Coronas, and Tequila’

fanfiction11Hello everyone! No podcast today as I am back home on the West Coast, but I have something exciting to keep you through the weekend: the first edition of Fan Fiction Friday! What is fan fiction you ask? Well, fan fiction is basically stories written about fans about fictional characters or elements of pop culture. Something like Fifty Shades of Grey is probably the most well known piece of fan fiction to go mainstream. I have been reading a ton of fan fiction, both high and low brow the past few months and am amazed at the skills fandom has. Whether its slightly riffing on an already established storyline or transporting the characters to an alternate universe, the writing ability of these fiction writers is a sight to behold. So I decided to highlight a a couple of fics each week from various fandoms to share with you all. Today’s entries come from the Teen Wolf fandom and my two favorite ships: Sterek and Scisaac.

Tuesday Top 10: 10 Actors Who Could Be Movie Stars

top10Hollywood stardom is a difficult thing to quantify these days since Hollywood has become a place driven more by production value than the stars in the production. Yet despite that, we still can identify movies based on their actors. We will still refer to films as Tom Cruise movies or ask, oh is that the one with Angelina Jolie? Once you’ve ascended to stardom, you’ve pretty much made it. So what of the possible movie stars today? Well I’m here to offer you a glimpse at the people I think are next in line provided they play their cards right. I tried to pick a mix of people just on the cusp as well as some who might need a few breaks, but will succeed in the end. Check out my selection of people after the jump!
