If I Had an Emmy Ballot: Best of 2014-2015 TV Season

It’s probably not bold to say, but TV has firmly taken over the conversation. This isn’t to say movies are completely out of the equation, but the stuff happening on television is much more interesting and fun to talk about. Now that Emmy ballots have gone out, I decided to give my final take on the year from June 1, 2014 to May 31, 2015.

2014 in Review: Top 10 (New and Returning) TV Shows

We have certainly been in a golden age of television, enough that I was able to make two top 10 lists from 2014’s TV offerings. I mean this might just be because I seemed to have watched about 90% of the TV shows that were put on the tube, but more so that 2014 just seemed to be a particularly great year for TV.As I was putting the list together, I had to make some hard decisions. The first of which was how would would I rank the shows that I had watched recently, cause in the past few days I’ve been making a mad dash (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Affair, Outlander, Jane the Virgin were all finished within a day of me writing this) vs. the shows that have ended or were cancelled (Enlisted *cries*). Another consideration was whether to split these into two lists, which was easy to figure out and it was super easy to not include several shows that people always accuse me of liking more than I do. So what did I finally come up with? Well out of the shows that were chosen 6 out of the 20 shows are comedies, 14 of the 20 shows have a female lead character, there’s four horror shows, and The Good Wife reigned supreme for the second year running. Anyways here’s my top 10 new and returning TV shows.

2014 Emmy Predictions

We’ve finally reached the end of the road, time to put up or shut up, insert other cliche here. The Emmy Awards are set to take place this coming Monday and having basically analyzed all of the races via my Emmy Chatter series, it’s time to unveil my final predictions.

Emmy Chatter: Best Comedy Series

I hope you all enjoyed yesterday’s entry into Emmy Chatter, which took a look at the Movie/Miniseries race. Today, we’re going to take a gander at the Best Comedy Series race.

2014 Creative Arts Emmys Predictions

I honestly don’t even know why I am doing these predictions for the Creative Arts Emmys as they are bar none the toughest group of nominees to whittle down. Nevermind the fact that this is crafted from a word doc that was 79 pages long (can the emmys please give us a simple doc with the nominees?), the crazy formatting I had to do, and everything that’s been going on in the country. Anyways, it was a fun distraction and really interesting to see what the TV Academy considers when it comes to technical excellence. Though I expect most of the big boys to finish first, it’s worth noting that at least the TV category nominates all types of genres and stories for its awards.

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly: 2014 Emmy Nominations

I knew I was on to something when I decided to sleep in rather than get up at the crack of dawn to watch the Emmy nominations. I am just…like…let’s just dig right in to the fiasco that the nominations were. The Good -Newcomers such as Lena Headey and Lizzie Caplan on the Drama side.
