First off let me say that I LOVE theater and heart nyc and would live there in a hot minute just to be within a step of broadway.
Now that I got that off of my chest, I love watching the Tonys as living in the Bay Area and going to school in Atlanta, I don’t get to see a major musical until it comes on a touring production.
Now for my Tony reactions:
1. The openinng number was quite nice.
2. I loved the idea of Neil Patrick Harris as a host, but we rarely saw any of him (in comparison to other award shows) and wasn’t he in a musical before? Why couldn’t he get a solo somewhere…oh that’s right at the end of the show…huh…
3. HAIR! The show felt like a big love fest whenever the Tribe was on and that performance was wild.
4. Alice Ripley and Karen Olivo, the two MOST DESERVING winners of the night. A close second being the duo from next to normal winning best score.
5.The show dragged on and seemed a lot longer than 3 hours despite the fact that they didn’t show all of the awards fully during the telecast…
6. And what the hell was up with the sound? That was pretty poor technical quality for a Broadway awards show.
And finally…
That Next to Normal performance….oh my goodness…I have posted it below it was so well performed…and Aaron Tveit is my new favorite Bway singer cause man….just check it out below…
