1. Read 1-2 (s) book per month: I tried to compile a top 10 list of books I read this year and when I realized that the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy would make the list by default, I knew it was time to step up my reading game. First up will be finishing Murakami’s massive 1Q84 and Baratunde Thurston’s hilarious How to Be black.
2. Exercise: I always include this but I think I finally figured out a plan on how to do it. I’m still not sure I can accomplish this, but what are New Year’s Resolutions if not slightly unattainable goals?
- 3 days of the week from Jan 1-Jan 31 (MWF)
- 5 days a week from Feb 1-28 (MWF with morning sessions on TTh)
- 5 days a week from Mar-forever (all morning sessions)
5. Podcast weekly: This of course is much more contingent on other people’s schedules, but I LOVE doing the Oraculum podcasts and want to make sure that it continues on.
6. Finish 2 screenplays by March. I have been swamped this year, but looking ahead, I plan to get on a better schedule, which will therefore leave time to do what has been a passion for me.
7. Return to fiction writing. Many of my college friends know that I had been mulling a historical fiction novel and have even written about 10 chapters. I have put it aside for other pursuits, but have finally found the story I want to tell and shall return to it.
8. Begin my movie-themed book. A lot of writing resolutions, but this one is a rather new concept. I’ve been doing a bit of research with regards to the Oscars and I have some interesting viewpoints I’d like to share. I can’t say about what lest one of you reading this try and snatch a good idea.
9. Volunteer more. Being a part of the Junior Achievement and ACE Mentor programs has been such a fun experience and I love being able to positively affect people. So I’d thought I’d put this here to keep myself accountable to do more volunteering.
10. Just let life come as it may. I am a control freak by nature so I’m resolving to let the blessings come to me, as opposed to worrying about everything.
