Whether they are slow or fast, there’s something inherently terrifying about a zombie, stripped of all humanity, coming right at you with no remorse. Zombies might be the creepiest of all movie monsters due to the science they could actually appear in our world. So with this knowledge and the fact World War Z coming out I decided to make a list of the top zombie movies and man was it harder than I thought it would be. So take a gander at my semi foolish, but no less relevant list.
10. tie, Warm Bodies and World War Z
9. Zombieland
8. The Crazies
7. ParaNorman
6. [REC]
5. Resident Evil
4. Shaun of the Dead
3. 28 Days Later
2. Dawn of the Dead
1. Night of the Living Dead
Unrepentant and bleak, George A. Romero shot the film over several weekends with nothing but $100,000 and some make up and delivered the gold standard of zombie movies. When you consider the impact it had on zombie films and launching us into horror movies as societal critiques, it more than earns its place as the best zombie film of all time. Romero and the actors do a fantastic job of really making you feel as if you are in the midst of a zombie outbreak. They’re all nothing but confused choices, moral quandaries and ultimately zombie chow with the exception of one person. Plus how strange/awesome was it that the main character and guy who makes it the furthest was African American? Usually the first one to go, Romero made Duane Jones the star of the show, even if he did make that shocking decision at the end of the film.
