Well we have officially past the halfway point of the year! It’s been a interesting year in the movie business and these awards reflect that. This is the first year in a while that I haven’t been to either Sundance or SXSW, and given my work schedule I was barely able to see any films at LA Film Fest, which means I was pulling from about 24 movies which isn’t great. It’s not as if the movie year has been bad so far, its been fine tbh. There are two movies that have put themselves way out in front of the pack, Ex Machina and Inside Out. No other film is really touching these two, although The Tribe certainly puts up a valiant effort. Anyways, here are my faves from the first half of the year.
