This week on Girls, we see more of the Hannah and Fran relationship deteriorate, while Elijah attends one of Dill’s parties and realizes that he might not be the only one in Dill’s life. Everyone has been invited to Adam’s new play and Jessa is worried how people will react to their new found relationship aka Hannah. And I am sure the title of this episode is dedicated to what happens within the first few minutes of this episode.
Hannah (Lena Dunham) is at the principal’s office and she’s in the trouble, because the other teachers have been complaining about her. The principal starts reading her comments about the stuff she has been saying and it’s not good at all…he tells Hannah that she is putting him in a very difficult decision since he likes her and what does Hannah do? She pulls a Sharon Stone a la Basic Instinct (I was like OMG!!!) and apologizes for her behavior. Hannah tells Fran (Jake Lacy) what happened with the principal and what she did to get out of trouble and he’s not happy…he’s super upset. Fran tells her that it’s not okay to flash someone that happens to be her boss and asks Hannah how damaged is she that this is her thought process.
Jessa (Jemima Kirke) and Adam (Adam Driver) are outside where his new play is taking place and she wants to know if he is ready for everything that will happen once Hannah and the rest of the group find out they’re dating and he tells her that he hasn’t and he kisses her goodbye. Hannah and Fran are still arguing as they arrive to see Adam’s play called “38 Neighbors” she wants to finish their conversation, but Fran tells her that he doesn’t like to make scenes in public. Hannah tells him that she doesn’t think this relationship is working anymore (Oh Hannah what are you doing?) and grabs Ray (Alex Karpovsky) as he has arrived and leads him the other way. This play has a pretty interesting concept going on…kinda like a Rear Window aspect where all the actors are in different rooms acting out something different and people can see them through the windows or walk inside the rooms. Marnie (Allison Williams) shows up and joins Hannah and Ray…she wants to talk to Ray and tells him that she left Desi…Ray wants to know if it’s for real she left him (you can see a glimmer of hope in Ray) she says yes, but that she has come to the decision that she needs to be alone and Ray is just disappointed and walks away.
Elijah (Andrew Rannells) is at the party that Dill (Corey Stoll) is hosting having a grand time. Dill wants to know if Elijah is having a good time and tells him he is. Dill is happy that Elijah feels that way and tells him that the people that are left standing beside you are the ones who matter the most and that Elijah inspires him.
Hannah goes into the room where Adam is in and hello Adam Driver’s wife, Joanne Tucker in a surprise cameo. People are looking out the window since there are statues outside with sound effects of someone getting attacked, but Hannah goes into another room and she spots Jessa outside starting at Adam…and he’s looking at Jessa and Hannah realizes that something is going on between them (Uh oh).
Back at Dill’s party…Elijah goes to refill his drink and he meets this guy in line and tells Elijah how Dill took some guy to a black-tie gala event not so long ago and tells him other stuff that makes Elijah question if there are others in Dill’s life apart from him. Elijah is in the bathroom and Dill knocks and goes inside wanting to know if everything is alright and Elijah tells him about what he heard about him and wants to be clear what their situation is…as he leaves.
Hannah needs to talk to Marnie and asks her if she knew that if Jessa and Adam were screwing clearly upset. Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) shows up telling Marnie that they got the call they had been waiting for from Alex Patsavas, who does all the music for Grey’s Anatomy and that they want to use their song for a huge scene of someone dying on the show. Marnie gets all happy and Desi tells her that this is their moment and they need to make it work as a band.
There are loud knocks coming from Elijah’s apartment and it’s Dill, who is drunk and tells Elijah that he left without saying goodbye and apologizes to Elijah and leads him to his room…Elijah tells him that he doesn’t want to be with him this way since he’s intoxicated, but Dill starts kissing him and falls asleep on Elijah.
The play is over and Hannah is outside with Ray and Fran comes out as Ray leaves the two of them. Jessa and Adam walk out and Hannah says hello to both of them and tells Adam he did a great job tonight, but one can clearly see she’s hurt…as they walk away. Fran is trying to talk to her, but Hannah is not there at all and then she apologizes to Fran and says she doesn’t want to be alone as she grabs his hand and they walk away together.
