456x330-300x217Teen Wolf has mercifully ended it’s 9 month hiatus to bring us the first episode of the highly anticipated 3rd season. Titled “Tattoo” the show refocuses us on the lovable characters in Beacon Hills and establishes that this will be one epic season. I wrote in my official review that this was the show’s most wolf-like season and this episode is just a great start on the journey. Let’s dig in shall we?

The episode opens up in a haze with Isaac and we already know this season won’t be good for him. Many of you have already read the first page of the script so you know how this scene starts. The Girl tells him that his memory has been stolen and puts him on her bicycle. Seconds later they are chased through an alley way by the alpha twins, who are apparently fast enough in human form to catch up to a speeding motorcycle. After barley avoiding an acrobatic jump/leap punch from the alphas, they crash through a glass wall at a warehouse when Isaac gets weary and knocks both him and the girl off the bike. We then see the alpha twins strolling in confidently to a club beat (the best sound cue of the episode) stripping and then one of them kneels down as the brother punches his fist into his back and they MERGE TOGETHER TO FORM ONE GIANT ALPHA! *runs around apartment screaming I FUCKING KNEW IT Y’ALL GON’ LEARN TO LISTEN TO ME WHEN I OFFER THEORIES* I have never been so happy to get something right, but that’s neither here nor there as the gigantic alpha is stalking them. The Girl yells at Isaac to get down before shooting the wolf with some electrical bullet that splits the twins apart and forces them to run away. Talk about a cold opening.

The show then does a grand switch moving to the next scene where Stiles and Scott are at a tattoo parlor named Tattoo, hence the name of the episode. Stiles hilariously asks if wants to get a tattoo that looks like a Kanima but Scott has his mind on two bands. After the tattoo artist gives us a bit of history about tattoos, he gets down to business. Scott doesn’t seem to be too phased with the needle, but Stiles, who isn’t experiencing any pain, faints. Poor thing. They get back into the car and Scott complains about the tattoo burning, ripping the bandage off to see the ink being absorbed into his skin and healing. Stiles is all “Welp”
