Can you believe that we are just two months from 2014? The new year seemed so long ago like two weeks ago but now here we are about to be done with the year. Which of course means now is ripe for a new set of Oscar Predictions! I will be attending AFI Fest on behalf of AwardsCircuit.com, which I may have spoken about (idk really it’s been a rough past two weeks). Anyways there has been a lot of jostling and jockeying in the past few weeks.

-Monuments Men is moving to 2014. I feel bad for anyone who was banking on this in their fantasy league, but the removal of this contender blows the race wide open in almost every category in terms of nominations.

-The Wolf of Wall Street is back in play with a Christmas release date and a rocking trailer. But just how big will it play? It’s in a crowded field and the race has mostly taken shape around several contenders so will Scorcese and co. be able to claw back in? My guess is yes but peep the places I have it missing, it’s not a surefire contender.

-However 12 Years a Slave certainly is. Having seen the film I can totally see it winning Best Picture, which is why I moved it to #1 in picture and director, with it winning some techs.

-The tech categories get some major shifting. The sound categories in particular are going to be tremendously difficult to predict (as they most alway are).

-If one of yall can nail down who the front runners are in Supporting Actor and Original Song, that would be wonderful.

-Though the animated film slate is a mess, it looks like Monsters University might not coast to the win as we all think cause word on the street is Frozen is a good movie…
