Episode 3.03 of Girls starts off with Hannah (Lena Dunham) cutting Adam’s (Adam Driver) hair, this was a nice little parallel to Hannah getting her hair cut by her neighbor Laird (John Glaser) last season after Hannah cut her own hair. Loved this quote from Adam: ” I don’t care about hair. It grows. It shrinks. You can’t get attached” I swear Adam Driver, just continues to be awesome. Hannah mentions that Adam should feel confident that she’s cutting his hair when she is not in the middle of an obsessive compulsive meltdown aka season 2 finale episode. Adam’s phone rings and he gives his and Hannah’s address to that person on the line, it turns out it’s Adam’s sister and she’s coming over. Next scene we get is Adam’s sister, Caroline (Gaby Hoffman) has arrived and Adam is not happy that she’s going to stay over, he really doesn’t want her to stay with them saying that she destroys everything in her path. This should be interesting because I can tell you Caroline looks very eccentric.
-We see Marnie (Allison Williams) singing in a music video starring her and with some nice auto-tune lol, she’s on the phone yelling to someone that they need to take down that video because that’s her face, so yeah she’s not happy with the video being up on YouTube.
-Ray (Alex Karpovsky) and his boss Hermie (Colin Quinn) are having a conversation about Ray now being the new boss for the new Grumpy’s that has opened. Ray mentions to Hermie that he is kinda scared of being a real boss, making decisions for the whole team, so Hermie gives him some advice…great little scene with them.
-It’s Hannah’s 25th birthday and Marnie and Hannah’s parents: Loreen (Becky Ann Baker) and Tad (Peter Scolari) are throwing her a party, where her parents tell Hannah that she is looking great. Marnie is saying that the passcode for the free drinks tonight is can you guys guess? It’s Banana! Marnie and Hannah meet Jessa (Jemima Kirke) and Shosh (Zosia Mamet), where Marnie starts talking that if Hannah remembers when it was her 21st birthday and they sang the duet of Rent’s ” Take Me or Leave Me” and while Marnie remembers that it was wonderful, Hannah tells her it was atrocious. One of my favorite quotes from the episode was said by Shosh in this scene: “It’s really amazing that all three of you have accomplished so little in the four years since college” We also find out that Charlie was the one that posted the video of Marnie and Shosh reads some of the comments that people have left of the video one of them being, ” Please stab that Disney princess in the face”
– Ray is listening to some band on stage and Caroline comes near him and starts dancing around him and being all weird, Ray is telling her that he is not in the mood to talk to people, but she doesn’t listen and keeps acting a bit cuckoo and bites Ray on the shoulder, Adam’s sister is quite something…but gotta say both siblings are quite weird in their own way so it runs in the family. Later on Ray is sitting at the bar trying to get a drink, but the bartender is not paying any attention to him and a guy next to Ray named Kobi (Kobi Libii), tells Ray that the bartender is trying to impress the ladies, both Ray and Kobi start having a conversation and Ray asks him what brings him here and Kobi tells him a girl named Shosh, well this has turned awkward.
-Love that Hannah is wearing a hat with the words “Birthday Bitch” and again Adam is complaining to Hannah that with his sister “All must go down with her” we get a cute little scene of Hannah and Adam dancing along with her parents, I really adore those two.
-Ray sees that Shosh is outside and goes out to talk to her to see how things are going with her and he tells her about being the new manager for Grumpy’s…basically he’s trying to impress her, but Shosh just seems like whatever about the whole thing and that’s when Ray tells her that he cannot be friends with her and to enjoy her life.
-David (John Cameron Mitchell) walks in the party and Adam tells Hannah that it’s Ed Norton (oh Adam please) but Hannah tells him it’s her editor, David says he got stood up and asks if he can borrow a phone so he can temporarily download Grinder. We see Marnie walking up on the stage and tells Hannah to come up on stage and they start singing the Rent song and Hannah is absolutely mortified. We see Ray again and he’s all melancholy getting drunk and listening to “Today” by the Smashing Pumpkins (You see what I did there ) and is feeling the song when it gets changed to LMFAO’s ” I’m Sexy and You Know It” (oh lord lol) Ray is truly pissed off telling the DJ why they changed the song and it was because David requested it, both get into an argument telling David about “The concept of the queue” and David throws Ray across a table and he’s bleeding. There’s an announcement of a fight where Hannah and Marnie are still singing and everyone turns to leave to go check out the fight. That’s when Hannah escapes hehe and leaves Marnie alone…Laird is enjoying the song and tells Marnie, “What’s this from?” (freaking Laird!)
-Hannah and Adam leave the place and Adam gives Hannah her birthday present, which is a necklace with a tooth (either Adam’s or Caroline’s) and Hannah loves it and they arrive to their apartment and sexy times come a knocking, but Hannah has to use the bathroom. Surprise surprise when she opens the bathroom door and Caroline is in there is no underwear (oh man with this scene *shaking my head*) and Caroline breaks a glass she was holding and starts bleeding. Something is definitely not right with Adam’s sister and Hannah comforts her to tells her to go to sleep. Episode ends with Hannah going to her bedroom and Adam telling her that he told her that his sister got in and that she won. Hannah asks Adam if he still wants to have sex and he tells her no, where Hannah goes, “Yeah that makes sense”
