We start off the episode with an orgy party at Dorian Gray’s (Reeve Carney) home, he’s looking at everyone around him and their sexual acts. After the party has ended he’s walking around his home and stops at a painting and opens in and walks inside a passageway, there is a huge painting covered up and he uncovers it and sits down on a chair and stares at it.
Vanessa (Eva Green) is outside sitting on a bench across from the church and a little girl comes over to her and asks her if she doesn’t like church, Vanessa tells her she does that she admires it. They keep talking and the little girl mentions that her mother has died she tells Vanessa that she’s buried but doesn’t think she will stay there and Vanessa gives her a look and asks her “Where do they go?” and the little girl says, “You know” Vanessa has this worried look, but then the little girls says, “They go to heaven” The little girl leaves and Vanessa spots Dorian across the church walking out she goes to follow him to where he is heading. Vanessa is walking into what seems like an arboterium and Dorian comes to her and asks her if she likes botany. They start flirting and Dorian tells her he likes flowers because of their duplicity and hidden depths. Dorian tells her he wants to show her something and takes her to see the Rothschild Slipper, the rarest orchid from the mountains of Borneo that it takes fifteen years to bloom for six perfect flowers. Vanessa asks Dorian if it is poisonous and he responds, “Like all beautiful things” then Dorian excuses himself telling her that he has another engagement at the theater.
Victor (Harry Treadaway) is with Van Helsing looking at blood slide samples, Victor is surprised at what he sees on the slide and Van Helsing tells him that he has seen that before that he named it after his wife and called it “Hannah’s wink” that the blood has a quite property to prevent coagulation the “eating of blood” Victor asks him how long has he known Sir Malcolm and he tells Victor not long, but that Sir Malcolm is looking for a cure for something he doesn’t understand. Victor is looking out the window and he spots the Creature (Rory Kinnear), he goes outside and he tells Victor to do the thing he promised him to do. Victor tells him he needs time because he needs a physical subject and also the Creature tells him that he wants a beautiful bride and Victor is sassy with him telling him a match for his mate. He gets angry and is holding Victor down and tells him how easily he could just snap his neck, that the future is for the strong and to the immortal races and to look upon his master and leaves.
Brona (Billie Piper) and Ethan (Josh Hartnett) are in bed together and she is telling him that she was once engaged to this man because she had no money and that he was also abusive and when she told her mother about what was happening that her mother told her to go back to him and marry him. And tells Ethan that, that same day she slept with a stranger for money. Ethan tells her that everyone has done horrible things to survive and then tells her that he wants to take her out somewhere.
Our group of Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton), Victor, and Ethan are with Fenton, he is telling them that he wants mother aka Vanessa. Victor takes a blood sample out of Fenton and starts screaming telling him to screw off, you butcher calls all of them butchers. Fenton tells all of them that he doesn’t want to sleep because there are so many monsters. Sir Malcolm tells them that he is seeking a cure and Victor tells them that they have to do a transfusion out with the old in with the new. He tells Ethan to roll up his sleeve, but tells him no that he wouldn’t want to do that and Sir Malcolm agrees to do the transfusion. They are waiting the results of the transfusion and Victor is reading a newspaper and sees the headline about the mutilations happening and starts talking about it, Ethan gets upset takes the paper away from him and throws it in the fire. Sembene (Danny Sapani) comes in and tells everyone that Fenton is awake and they all go downstairs to see if the transfusion worked. Fenton is telling them if he is going to get beaten again, that if he deserved that, that he is hungry. Vanessa throws him an apple and then screams at her calling her a blood f- devil whore. Ethan tells Vanessa that he is disturbed with themselves like how far do they have to go for this purpose…she tells him that is a hazard to answer that and he leaves. Victor and Sir Malcolm are still downstairs discussing what they should feed Fenton when Sembene comes with a cat breaks it’s neck and throws it at Fenton to eat (just a disturbing scene) and Victor and Sir Malcolm just look at Sembene as he walks away.
It’s theater time and Brona and Ethan are walking into the theater and she is super impressed and happy at everything around her. The Creature is setting up everything for the show as it is about to begin, the man that gave him the job tells the audience, “Let’s murder some people tonight” The name of the play is called, “The Transformed Beast” Brona is just entranced with the show and Dorian is there too sitting upstairs when he spots Vanessa sitting across from him on the other side and both smile at each other.
We go back to Victor and Sir Malcolm and Victor asks him if he really is going to go to Africa and take Ethan with him, Sir Malcolm tells Victor if he is jealous, he tells him that he was always the sphere of his brothers. Sir Malcolm tells him that he lost a son in Africa much like him. He tells Victor that Ethan is just a finger on a trigger that he doesn’t care about him, but that Victor is not that. We kinda get a smile from Victor after that is said. Fenton is downstairs singing and calling out for his master and is biting his wrist.
The play is going well and everyone is enjoying it, the Creature is running around setting up all the things and the play is about this werewolf and the first act ends with the werewolf clawing at the girls neck with a lot of blood spurting out and well it’s intermission time.
Back to Sir Malcolm and Victor they go to see Fenton, but he has gotten out of his chains…they go upstairs and Fenton is crawling behind them and suddenly jumps on Sir Malcolm and they see the creature aka the Master. Fenton is telling him that she is not here and the Master jumps out the window, Fenton is still on top of Sir Malcolm when he grabs him and Fenton lands on the broken window on his head and dies.
During intermission Vanessa sees Ethan and Brona they are introduced and then Dorian walks over and everyone is having a conversation talk about awkward. Brona tells Ethan that she needs some air since she slept with Dorian in episode 2. Ethan walks out to where she is and tells him that he should back inside with his friends. She slaps him and tells him that he can screw her like everyone else after he’s paid and Brona storms off. Dorian comes outside and tells Ethan that the second act is going to begin and them Ethan tells him, “Do you ever wish you could be someone else? Run away from your life” and Dorian tells him all the time. Dorian tells Ethan to come with him and Ethan tells him if it involves drinks and leaves with him. Vanessa goes back to her seat and looks across expecting to see Dorian, but he is not in his seat since he left with Ethan. We see Brona crying on the street and suddenly she’s coughing up blood and is just laying down on the street.
Ethan and Dorian arrive at this place and Dorian tells him that were they are going is not completely legal and Ethan tells him it’s not his first time. They go in a underground illegal gambling place where there’s a ring in the middle and a man is throwing all these rats inside and they bring in this dog called Flash Jack and everyone is betting on how many rats the dog can kill. The dog is killing all these rats (let me tell you this scene was just so gross and disturbing) Ethan can’t take this scene of the dog doing this to all the rats and has to leave he goes to the bar area and asks for a whiskey. Some idiots are taunting him telling him about him not liking what he was seeing and this is the way it’s done in Britain. Ethan starts fighting the guys, Ethan is the restroom cleaning up when Dorian comes walking in telling him that he won the bet with Flash Jack. Ethan asks about all the colognes in the bathroom and asks Dorian how does one choose, Dorian says, “Each produces a different you” they both leave and head to Dorian’s place where they start drinking absinthe (you know this is going to end well) Dorian asks that if he likes the pictures and Ethan says yes that we all play parts and also tells Dorian that he’s never had absinthe, so they toast for his first taste of it.
Vanessa comes home and senses something and asks Sir Malcolm what happened. He tells her that the creature was here, that the boy is dead, and that the creature was in her room and he thinks that it was all a ploy to invite him in and that Mina has been manipulating her. Vanessa tells him that she betrayed Mina, but that he ignored his daughter his whole life. Sir Malcolm tells Vanessa that she is the daughter he always deserved. He tells Vanessa that they will carry on with this fight and that they can lose them all but not the last fight.
Back at Dorian’s…Ethan and him are still drinking the absinthe and start talking about art and Ethan asks Dorian if he has a favorite piece of art in here, he tells him yes but that is not here and somewhere else. Ethan tells that he liked the art of the Anzasi indians he once saw because they were primitive and honest. He asks Dorian if art can be honest, since he is the expert…Dorian tells him music is honest that it’s a phantasm, but that there is nothing ever new. Dorian gets a some music from Wagner saying it’s from Tristan and Isolde from the final act that is about love and death. The music is playing and Ethan is thinking about everything that happened with Brona and everything else that’s been happening. Dorian and him continue drinking more absinthe and then everything is coming together with these flashbacks that Ethan is getting about the mutilated bodies, him waking up and his hand with two bite marks and then proceeds to kiss Dorian (and I was like holy crap!!! *thud*) and then both continue kissing, Ethan takes Dorian’s clothes off and Dorian does the same to Ethan and end of the episode. But also revelation with all those flashbacks that Ethan is a freaking werewolf!!! So it looks like we have an American Werewolf in London guys!
So any thoughts about this episode? You guys know what to do below…that last scene I was not expecting at all
