Greetings from Anaheim! WonderCon has kicked off today and it is certainly nice being back at a Convention. Knowing that it has been a minute since I’ve left my house I decided to take it easy with a simple cosplay (Gabriel from the cancelled too quick The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself) and three panels.

Everyone’s a Critic – Is it strange that a film critic would attend a panel of film critics talking about criticism? Who cares cause it was delightful. I had a very good friend on the panel so I wanted to show moral support and ended up sitting through this very fascinating discussion, and learning about some sites I hadn’t heard of in Nerdbot.com and FilmThreat.com. I really appreciated the panelists diving into the realities of criticism today and most importantly talking about how review writing has changed.

True Lies – I attended the press room for this and was able to additionally screen four episodes. While the show isn’t a world beater, there are certainly less pleasing ways to pass the time. It’s really buoyed by the lovely performances from Steve Howey and Ginger Gonzaga so if you’re looking for something fun to watch, check it out!

Clone High – As a child raised in the 90s/00s who watched cartoons somehow that I shouldn’t have, I was actually kind of shook that I had never heard of this series at all. Clone High was apparently quite controversial in its day so who better to bring it back than HBO Max? The show follows clones of famous world leaders who are in high school and get up the the many shenanigans high schoolers do. The teaser for the reboot is very funny and irreverent, and if these images are anything to go by, it will be even crazier than what we saw.
