After 3 seasons and 31 episodes of Teen Wolf, Jeff Davis and his cavalcade of writers have finally decided to look down on us mere mortals and delivered some of the answers we’ve been looking for. Visionaries promised to be an episode to help fill in the gaps and give us some more insight into Derek and the werewolf lore. Let’s dig in!

The majority of the episode is based on flashbacks so this recap is gonna break everything up by sections. First up we have baby!Derek as told to Stiles and Cora by Peter.

We meet baby Derek in not the best circumstances. He’s running from hunters, stopping just long enough to see a beta wolf get an arrow through his throat. He almost gets the same fate before young uncle Peter saves him and they find an abandoned place to hide in for two days. His luck turns around however once he comes into contact with a young girl named Paige. They have a meet cute that’s more like a hate cute, with Derek being a cocky shit and Paige not having it. He wants to get to know her name and she tells him that if he can play any instrument in the room that she’ll tell him. Baby!Derek then picks up a triangle and she says her name is Paige and Jesus help me I ship it already. They then have a ton of scenes I would find grossly uncomfortable if not for my diligent search to ensure they were 18.

Peter ends up spying on one of their excursions to a distillery where they make out before a big meeting comes up. Which is probably why we were doomed to have this end badly. Baby!Derek quickly falls in love and thinks about turning her. He’s encouraged (antagonized?) by Peter into trying to turn her. Peter was a damn lie this entire episode! Derek, being a beta of course, can’t so Peter manages to get Ennis to do it! *fights the air* Paige however, doesn’t take to the bite and starts dying. He takes her to the safe druid space where he and Peter hid after being chased by hunters, trying to take away some of her pain. Paige tells Derek that she can’t take it anymore and he kills her to end the pain. At the end of the episode, his mom comes to check on him and we see that his eyes have changed to blue. Talia tells him that his eyes are different but still beautiful; just like the rest of him. Whew are my eyes sweating? Maybe it’s just dusty in here and that’s why water is leaking from my eyes.

  1. Loved this episode. You know I am never here for Derek (who I guess has been making terrible choices always), but I am 100% on #teamBabyDerek. Love him. Love “Paige”. Quotation marks because I am 99.9999% sure Ms. Blake is Paige. Or she’s her sister or reincarnated something.

Poor Ian Nelson, always running away from people with cross bows.

GERARD IS EVERYTHING. Stabbing out eyes and shit. Yes! Although it occurred to me in this episode that both the season 1 big bad and the season 2 big bad are just kind of … around still. Like, our heroes aren’t really getting stuff done.

I forgot the eye color stuff was a thing.

This has nothing to do with episode, but have you watched this week’s after show?! JR Bourne is putting the discussion about who the King Daddy on Teen Wolf is to BED.

    1. I am watching the after show right now and LOL at the JR comment

I really enjoyed baby!Derek as well and you forgot about eye color?! That was like THE thing the fandom was concerned about…now it’ll be age of the wolves

And your thoughts on the big bads is interesting. They sort of had a throw away line last week about the currents under the town, makes you wonder how much of a hot bed Beacon Hills is for the supernatural

      1. I am not really a mythology person. I am in it for crazy moments like Gerard stabbing out people’s eyes with arrows. The eye color or true Alpha stuff or whatever I could take or leave.

  2. I am so glad I’m not the only one on the sugar daddy thing with Stiles and Peter!!! Ever since he offered him the bite..LAWD have mercy! My life would be MADE if they got together. I love Peter so much! He lied this whole episode, but it just showed how much he hasn’t changed. You can always count on him to be lying about one thing or another. For the most part he keeps it his own special brand of 100. I do like that Cora and Stiles are kinda sorta friends. It seemed kind of random at first, but I can dig it. Scott went thug on Gerard real fast! I was surprised, but I hope we get to see some more of that boss hawg aggressiveness! I do not care for ms. teacher at all. She seems super sketch to me, and I don’t know how I feel about the fact that she just happened to show up when stuff started going down. I don’t trust her, and I want her gone.
