Apologies for this being so late but the Oscars occupied so much of my life and I saw Looking super late last night. Anyways here’s the recap:

Dom: I’m putting Dom first cause his story was the most boring and inconsequential last night. Dom is of course freaking out about his pop up and despite enlisting the help of Dorris, her boyfriend and Lynn, he’s determined to do everything himself. When Lynn dares to suggest that Dom needs to spend more time in front of the guests that night than in the kitchen, Dom blows up. They go outside and have a conversation with the undercurrent of the kiss that happened last week and Lynn basically says peace out. This is gonna backfire on Dom next week I already know…

Augustin: We’ve already established that Augustin is the WORST and things finally came to a head for that character when after he told Frank that he pulled out of the art show that he paid C.J. $220/hr to sleep with him. Chile…

Frank was rightfully pissed and told Augustin to pack up his shit and get out. PRAISE GOD! Sidenote: I find Augustin so fascinating, despite his awfulness, or maybe because of it. But even though I delight in different perspectives in characters, this dude needs a redemption arc or he has to go.

Patrick: Why won’t Patrick let my emotions be great? Every week but one this character has me high and low and I can’t deal. PLEASE get right next week Patty! Patrick’s story this week was a tale of two halves. The first half occurred when he was nervous about going to his sister’s wedding. Richie pops up, having shaved off his beard (noooooooo) and needs to borrow a shirt from Patrick, which makes them semi-late. In the car, Richie tries to be cute and distract Patty while he’s driving (so dumb) and they end up pulling over. Richie hands Patrick some pot to smoke and offers to drive. Patrick gets upset that Richie brought pot to the wedding and they argue and Richie walks off. Now…listen…I know Patty Ice has his troubles, but why did Richie think it would be ok to bring pot to the wedding? Like, what? And then storm off like an angry child?

Meanwhile at the wedding, Kevin, Patrick’s boss, is somehow there and I immediately knew some foolishness would happen. That whole cute tie tying scene was a setup for later in the episode when a drunk Kevin came onto Patrick and kissed him. LAWD HAVE MERCY! This scene had me like:

I thought Kevin had a boo! Who attended the wedding! and he’s tryna kiss Patty Ice! *faints* Patrick tho, summons up some kind of Jedi master resistance and pushes him away. This is probably only delaying the inevitable and if I didn’t love Richie so much, I’d encourage this.

Patrick then talks to his mom and they have a bristling conversation where Patrick blames his nerves on his mom’s previous thoughts about what a boyfriend should be. His mom basically tells him that if Patty was so worried that maybe Richie wasn’t right for him. I’d congratulate her on such an excellent read but I’m Team Richie so I can’t. I will however address Patrick for trying to blame all his damn problems on his mom like he ain’t been treating this relationship with Richie as something that should just happen as opposed to something you have to put effort in to make happen. Sir, you totally could have brought this man to the wedding, eff what your mom says. You being raggedy aint her fault!
