In the penultimate episode of Penny Dreadful, we see the ramifications of Vanessa accepting Dracula’s kiss. Ethan, Sir Malcolm & Kaetenay arrive to an abandoned London covered in fog. Lily tells Victor something about her past…while Dorian finally gets a bit of revenge.
The city is covered in fog and looking completely abandoned, Dr. Seward (Patti LuPone) is returning to her office when she hears the recordings of Vanessa and sees Renfield sitting on her desk listening. His appearance has changed now looking more as a vampire. The doctor finally realizes what her assistant has become and wants to know where Vanessa is at and he tells her that Vanessa is now Dracula’s. Renfield has a frog that he feeds on and tells him that all the night creatures have come out to play…he starts choking her, but she hits him on the head and the doctor sees frogs crawling from the drain.
Ethan (Josh Hartnett), Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) and Kaetenay (Wes Studi) finally arrive to foggy London and a bunch of rats are running towards them. They head to Sir Malcolm’s home frantically calling for Vanessa, but she is nowhere to be found. Ethan finds a dead wolf hanging from Vanessa’s room…downstairs a vampire bites Malcolm and all these vampires are suddenly attacking them and Catriona comes to their rescue and helps them out. Sir Malcolm requests a gun, because he was bitten and wants to shoot himself…but Catriona cauterizes the wound and tells him not to be such a child as Malcolm passes out…I love her character! Ethan tells the group he is going to find Vanessa and Catriona tells him he needs a mask to go outside, because it’s not only fog what is on the outside…but a mixture of the chlorine gases of the factories that is causing a plague.
Lily (Billie Piper) is still chained up…and asks Dorian (Reeve Carney) for a dance…but he’s not falling for it…he leaves asking Victor (Harry Treadaway) to let him know if there is any change once she is cured. The serum is almost complete when Lily wants a moment alone with Victor and Jekyll leaves. Now with the both of them alone…Lily wants a drink of water as Victor hands her the glass, she touches his hand and tries to grab him, but he pulls way his hand right on time.
Caliban (Rory Kinnear) is having supper with his family talking about moving back to their old home and also visiting different places, as his son Jack begins coughing up blood not having much time left.
Dorian returns back home and sees all of Lily’s women at the table talking, he tells them that they have to leave. Justine stays and wants to know where Lily is…Dorian tells her that Lily has been tamed and Justine stabs him right on the chest…but nothing happens oh sweet summer child. Justine tells Dorian that she cannot go back to the life she had…she tells him she would rather face her fate here than go back outside…Dorian kisses her and then breaks her neck.
Ethan goes to look for Victor, but is greeted by a vampire boy telling him that the doctor is not there, but he can take him to Victor if he follows him. Finally Sir Malcolm wakes up and wants to know who Catriona is and she tells him that she has approached by Vanessa. There is a knock at the door and it’s Dr. Seward asking for their help.
Back at Jekyll’s lab…Victor apologizes for bringing Lily here and tells her that soon everything will be okay, but she tells him that she would rather die than to be with him…Victor please snap out of this! Lily mentions how she was an offering to be given to his Creature and nothing else. Lily wants Victor to let her be and tells him how some wounds can never be healed. She tells him how she had a daughter, but how she died because she was out whoring when a john hit her so hard she was knocked out while her daughter froze to death. She tells Victor not to take away that pain from her as he holds the syringe with the serum, but he puts in on the floor and unchains her…she kisses him and then leaves.
Ethan is still following the vampire boy and all these vampires are surrounding him when Dracula (Christian Camargo) comes towards him, but we see a full moon. Ethan tells Dracula that he will save Vanessa and how his destiny is joined with hers.
Sir Malcolm along with Catriona and Dr. Seward go after Renfield, since he is now locked up…Ethan turns into his wolf form and starts tearing apart all the vamps…suddenly Kaetenay comes to his aid…while he also changes into a wolf!!! He joins Ethan in the destroying of all of the vampires and the screen fades to black

I felt like this was the stronger of the halves of the finale because we got character and plot advancement. It ended weird with the two wolves tho.
