Teen Wolf Recap 3.12 “Lunar Ellipse”

Read Time:12 Minute, 52 Second

Jennifer realizes the situation and does the Sailor Moon mountain ash throw. Scott though decides to try and break through the mountain ash barrier AND SUCCEEDS becoming the true alpha. He demands that she makes the storm stop or he’ll kill her. Now wait, this dude has been so adamant about not killing people and now that he’s alpha that’s on the table? What kind of bs is this! He doesn’t get the chance as Duke rushes up to slit her throat. Welp. Scott and Derek then proceed to give Deucalion the most pansy ass threat telling him to be the man of vision he used to be and to stop being bad. I seriously rolled my eyes so hard I thought they’d get stuck. This is the fucking Demon Wolf, what are you two fools gonna do? Does Scott becoming a True Alpha means he’s invisible? Cause that’s the only way you’ll ever get me to believe this threat was worth anything.

Moving back to the Argents, Chris is about ready to really hang up his guns when Allison tells him that she wants to learn more from him and that they need to develop a new code: we help those who can’t defend themselves.

We then get a nice sweet montage that’s so sweet and saccahrine I was rolling my eyes. Apparently everything is hunky dory and Scott still doesn’t trust his father and the alpha twins are good and Alisaac is alive and well and Scott has his friends and hooray. The ONLY good part of this montage was seeing Derek and Cora leave town. This might be the best plot decision they made all season considering:

  1. They now have a get out of jail free card when Adelaide doesn’t come back and don’t have to crush Derek by killing her off.
  2. Derek can go on his werewolf retreat OR leave the show as his arc would dictate.
  3. It adds intrigue to the arc of Derek next half season.

This would have been a fine stopping point but the plight on this first half of the season has been Teen Wolf trying to be bigger and badder than ever and boy was that last scene a step in the wrong direction. Jennifer still hasn’t bled out and has somehow managed to crawl her way to the Nemeton. There she encounters Peter and proceeds to read him for all the plotlines we’ve yet to see. She mentions how everyone else seems to suffer while he waits around twirling his villanous mustache comes out on top and now that Scott’s an alpha he’s gonna steal his power to be an alpha again. So..I guess the thing with Derek didn’t work? Whats the point of this? Anyways, Peter gets mad at her using the word again, slits her throat, and yells in mountain ash voice I’VE ALWAYS BEEN THE ALPHA.

Thank you for explaining what all of the Derek/Jennifer stuff at the end was about. I didn’t really get how she got weakened. Did she get weakened when she healed Derek earlier in the season? I don’t really know what Jennifer was doing most of this episode. She waited 16 hours to kill those people but Derek is just as good as killing them or …. Eh, not going to try here.

I thought the end showdown was okaaaaay, but it was kind of symptomatic of how cluttered the plot was this season. Derek and Scott really didn’t have much of an invested interest in Decaulian vs. Ms. Blake either way. Derek could have let her kill the Demon Wolf and it seems like that would have solved a lot of people’s problems. If Decaulian had killed Ms. Blake then, well, the parents are saved & they are back to square one. Maybe if we knew why Decaulian wanted Scott or what his plan was? The Alphas never totally made sense.

But Jennifer coming through the roof and laying the BEAT on Kali and the twins was A++++. Would have watched that for an hour. I booed when the twins were alive. And then we’re all just going to pretend they aren’t murderers now?

Who thought it was a good idea to bring Lydia by herself to that loft with a guy who basically assaulted her and then have her hanging around for Kali? Isaac doesn’t want to go with her? Somebody? I don’t think I’d trust that twin THAT MUCH.

Sad about Jennifer, but at least Teen Wolf finally killed off a villain.

I like to think Ms. Morell was like, ‘Nuh uh,’ and got the fuck out of Beacon Hills.

Enjoyed the finale on the whole. Not sure I’ll be back in January. Recent history hasn’t had a great track record of supernatural shows’ season 4s (or 3.5 or w/e they want to call it to not have to pay Daniel Sharman more). But the promise of Allison The Vampire Slayer has me intrigued.
